[Social] Block Followers

I believe there should be a way to block people that are following you on Spotify. When blocked, the user will automatically unfollow you and will not be able to find you, or view your public playlists.

 

Blocking should be possible via both username and email address.

Hi everyone,

 

Thanks for coming to the Ideas Exchange, and sharing your votes and comments.

 

We’re pleased to confirm that all users now have the option to block another user on Spotify. With this update, you can actively block another user across desktop and mobile devices, preventing them from being able to see listening activity, public playlists, or view profile pages.

 

Here’s how it works:

  • When visiting another user’s profile, click on the   (...) button.
  • Select “Block” (or “Block User” on mobile) to block the user whose profile you are viewing.
  • This user will now be blocked and cannot access your page, public playlists or view your listening activity.
  • To unblock a user, click the Unblock option in the same menu.

Looks like this article by the Dailydot and Forbes is the one that got the ball rolling with Spotify starting to work on this feature after nearly 8 years:

can't believe that in the 21st century Spotify gives you NO control over your followers. To do this facilitates the actions of predators, stalkers and the like. Disgusting. I want to know what Spotify intends to do about this. I'm considering legal action.

I'd like to distance myself from certain people in my life. I notice some that are always in my business. Blocking or a way to unfollow would be awesome.

please please implement this, the guy who s/assaulted me still follows me and I do not want him to know anything about me or my life.

With this feature now be worked on to be implemented, I suggest we also have the ability to make our entire profile private and unsearchable in Spotify search or any search crawler. This will prevent those who don't want followers to be able to just prevent the whole issue to begin with rather then having to block each individual manually. After all, Twitter and Facebook allow the ability to prevent random followers when certain privacy settings are enabled.

The fact that people have been complaining about this issue now for close to a DECADE and it hasn't been fixed??? Are the devs sitting on their asses? What the **bleep** are they paying you for.

This is such a good idea! People I don’t know follow me and I wish I could remove them. It is crazy that the community have been asking for this change since 2013. This idea has 14,000 votes and still no changes…
