Just imagine a situation:

You are sitting in the bus. And listening to your favourite music on headphones. When you notice a cute person who is sitting in the bus too, and really enjoying the music, while shaking head with the beat. So curious.. WHAT SHE/HE IS LISTENING TO?!
How to know that? You take your phone from your pocket and open spotify app. There you see everyperson in 50m radius who is using Spotify and shares their music. And you see that she is listening for A-HA - TAKE ON MEE!. You connect to her music and listen to this song also. And when the bus stops, you leave it and say to her/him: ARE YOU PLANNING TO GO TO A-HA CONCERT THIS SUMMER? I LOVE THIS SONG TOO.
And you live happily ever after ❤️

So, the thing is : a possibility to look for surrounding spotify users and see what they are listening. A possibility to connect to their song. A possibility to turn ON or turn OFF music sharing (maybe you would like a private moment, and dont want to see everyone listening for your "shame songs" haha!

I personally really really often pass a person with headphones and am very very curious, what they are listening to that moment.

Firstly, I find Spotify to be very unique given that it connects people and allows individuals to explore different cultures and genres via music, acting as a social media platform for people of all ages and all preferences. To further this level of social/cultural integration via music I believe the 'Spotify sweep' idea is a perfect way to connect strangers anonymously. When on commutes and you see someone bopping their head to music, aren't you curious to know what song energises them on a Monday morning without having to nervously ask?

Well then, 'Spotify sweep' is a perfect feature. The feature would serve the purpose of allowing people to discover songs in public. This would work by "scanning" one's surrounding area for 'music' streamed through the Spotify platform only. If other people are using the app in the same vicinity as you and are listening to a song/podcast, people can 'sweep up' the song/podcast, add it to their playlist, download, and share. To conform to privacy guidelines people should have the option to disable this feature and overall the feature would be anonymous. Furthermore, by making this feature anonymous it will add to the thrill and excitement of safely interacting and discovering new music, serving as a pass-time activity which people would do comfortably on their commutes. To make it even more interactive there should be a rating feature, rating one's taste profile and current song/podcast which they're listening to. Thus, giving people the chance to send pre-set comments to the person whose music they're "sweeping" and reviewing.

Ultimately, this can connect people, music, and help aspiring artists spread their music in a safe and enjoyable way which I think would make Spotify even more unique as a streaming Platform.

Please try and implement this, it would be a fantastic way connect and would greatly benefit the Spotify app and its users.

What if people on public transport por example could check what you are listening ? Imagine a feature (with consent of the users of course) that could connect you with the person in front and check or share to what song they are playing on their earphones and viceversa ? Some people could find friends or even their soulmates this way! It could be through Bluetooth and only work when you enable it, maybe you could even add reactions.

if any version of this feature were implemented, I would cancel Spotify *immediately* and never come back. i don't care if you can turn it off. the idea that I could leave it on accidentally is plenty of reason.

Please consider creating a function to listen music together (the one that plays in people's headphones in real time) for example around on the street. The ability to turn it on and off (if a person does not want other people to be able to watch or listen to it with you) and so that, for example, if a person is on a mission, then he would be outside the detection zone. I have been an avid user of your service for many years. Based on my positive experiences, I would like to propose one features that could further enhance the user experience on Spotify.


Spotify Map: An interactive map that allows users, with their consent, to share their location would introduce an innovative way to discover music. On this map, icons of the currently playing songs could be displayed, allowing users to see what music others in the vicinity are listening to. This could not only help in discovering new music but also provide opportunities to connect with others. Of course, this feature should be optional and comply with strict privacy standards.

I would love to know what people surrounding me listen to — either when being home or when travelling (abroad) — to discover new music more easy. Also to get in tune with the locals and learn the language better.

Currently I rather put on the radio therefore.

e.g. I am being on a campsite. Other biwaks play music. I constantly run there to shazam it. Would be easier if I could choose the option „Locals listen to:“

There's a button we can tap if we wanna be seen "online" or "offline". If you tap on "online" your friends/followers can see what you're listening to right at that moment. It could also be cool if we could see what other people are listening to beside you or in the same room (only if you as a listener allow it in our settings).

Problem Statement: Imagine you are traveling on public transport and listening to songs on Spotify. A person sits next to you and he/she notices the song you are listening to. He/she might get interested and get excited to know the about your music taste (which is similar to their music taste also) .

Solution: So, Here is a very interesting feature which can help in this situation. Music Taste Matcher (You can use a different name also). This unique feature will use NFC (Near Field Communication) Technology which will extract the data of the songs listened by both the users and will tell the percentage of the music taste matched (Like 87%, 42% etc). This feature can be implemented by using the same Wi-Fi or bluetooth. It will also tell you the Top 5 Most Listened Music (you can add up more) listened by both the users.

Note: You can also use the previous year data of Spotify Wrapped for the music taste matching.

Ad Campaign: You can use the problem statement scenario adding a girl and a boy in this situation. You can launch this feature for the upcoming valentine.
