[Social] Party Mode with DJ that approves songs

A mode where there is one "DJ" who has ultimate control over the music being played while others can join the party and suggest songs they want to be played through the app.  The "DJ" can decide if/when to play the suggested songs.

I’ve been having a lot of problems with the party feature. Recently when I’ve been using it it just disconnects me from the party along with everyone else for no reason. The only person left is the original host.

We aren’t even making it two songs in.

It seems like a bug, so I’d imagine that needs to be dealt with first. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

It would be best to get option to create Party ROOM or whatever called feature to create a party playlist containing user wish list.

First person who create Party-ROOM (acting Admin) load some tracks or load his own playlist and operate party (queue tracks, select tracks, play/pause, volume control etc so act as ADMIN) the other users of party room can be invited by: social links or email with a secured link or bluetooth share or NFC share to join to party room and theirs installed spotify "client" (even free edition)  can search global tracks and add it to a kind of "wish list", so Admin can manually decide to add it to queue and play it as next song.

If a user who was invited to party room has got his own playlist with tracks it could be useful to give him an option to one-click add track to party room wish list from his own playlist - maybe this option could be present under three dots menu

and last wish for wish list:

this invited user "wish list of tracks" they want to play (which ADMIN "see" in his spotify ) could be a pool when all invited user could vote witch track/song should be played now!

This is outstanding idea!

Spotify can add an option that would allow people to suggest a song to the aux holder (i.e., person in charge of playing music at a social event). Once suggested, the person in control can either add it to the playlist queue or reject it.

This can be useful as it would eliminate the already occurring suggestive process- a process that occurs in social events wherein people suggest, to the aux holder, the song that they think should be played next.

Let me know if you'd like me to further elaborate on this idea!

I’m seriously looking for a fun interactive party app.  We host a bunch of parties at our house, on trips and up at the cottage and I am hosting a large party for my 50th.

I want to be able to easily share a link/qr code for people to sign in and suggest and/or vote for songs.  I would also like to be able to be able to request themes (80’s or Slow songs when the wife wants to dance etc)

Please make this happen in Spotify or allow a 3rd party app to do this … I was looking at a jukebox app but supposedly Spotify cancelled its compatibility

I would like that the "play" button was configurable.

In situations where older and younger people is using Spotify as music source, often what happens is that a press on "Play" by mistake ends a perfect moment because a change in song is made.

I propose that you make a "Jukebox" mode. When enabled, there is no autoplay, but instead a dialog box, which prompts the user to "Confirm" or "Decline" wether the selected song is to be put in the queue or not.

This will leave the current song playing, and any newly chosen song to be put in queue IF the user actually want's it.

An optional plug-in, to (sort-of) dj material, like at a house party. Want to skip to the next song but not break the flow? Move the cross fader, and it starts mixing the next song in the queue from where ever you happen to be. Fancy would be you could actually control the fade, but just fading in early would be fun for short attention spans, or to exit a song going sour. Fanciest would be a full digital DJ set up like people use to DJ from their phones, but the material would be Spotify streaming.... Or a partner  program with one of those companies??

At a Cots wold hen party, the DJ sets the tone for a night of fun and celebration. With a personalized touch, they curate the playlist, ensuring every song is a hit, making memories that the bride and her friends will cherish.

when the phone is being used for a party, it get's annoying when drunk people try and fail to click on the right button to add the song to the queue; ending the current song that people are enjoying.
solution: have a 'party / dj' mode whereby any songs clicked are automatically put in the queue and if the user wants to actually play the song immediately, they have to purposefully click on a confimation.

cheers.

Hi Spotify Team,

Back in 2016, Spotify had an amazing feature under the Party category that let users adjust the mood of a playlist with a simple slider. Even more exciting was how you could tap on a new song while one was playing, and Spotify would do its best to blend them—like a basic DJ transition. It wasn't perfect, but it was creative and really fun to play with.

With those two features combined, I could create build-ups, drops, and smooth transitions on the fly. It was like having a basic AI-powered CDJ setup right in my pocket. That feature had so much potential, and I’ve honestly never found anything quite like it since.

Fast forward to 2025, and with where AI and music tech are today, I think this idea could evolve into something truly next-level. Currently, there’s still no widely accessible AI-powered DJ tool that allows seamless mixing, mood control, and beat matching for casual users. Spotify could own that space.

Here’s the vision: “Spotify DJ+”
An AI DJ interface for playlists with the following capabilities:

  • Mood slider (like before): Adjust intensity, energy, tempo, or genre fusion in real-time.

  • Smart mixing: When changing tracks, use AI beatmatching and key detection to auto-mix with smooth transitions (beat drop sync, crossfades, echo-outs, etc.).

  • AI-assisted sets: Let users select a vibe, genre, or theme, and the AI builds and mixes a full live-style set on the fly.

  • Loop & build tools: Add temporary loops or build tension (just like a DJ would do).

  • User interactivity: Let users tweak transitions or even “rewind” and re-trigger moments like cue points.

  • Live session mode: Host listening parties with friends and have the AI mix in real time for everyone.

Why now?

AI-powered tools and even Spotify’s own “DJ” beta feature (with the voice commentary) are proof that AI and music curation are merging. But nobody has nailed the performance aspect yet—something between DJing and playlisting.

Spotify already has:

  • A massive catalog

  • Listening data and user taste profiles

  • Real-time playback infrastructure

  • The groundwork with your current “DJ” feature

You’re sitting on the perfect ingredients for an AI DJ that could be part toy, part professional tool.

If you’re already thinking in this direction—awesome. If not, I’d love to see this on the roadmap. It would bring music to life in an entirely new way.

Thanks for the music,

Anthony B.
