Songs should show the type of genre it is

Sometimes you discover a certain song that becomes your top 1 favorite and you want more of that specific style, but you don't even have any idea of what genre could it be. It happens me a lot with EDM music, and Rock music, I love so much certain songs but its hard to find a similar one when I don't know what type of genre it is. For example I found "Don't say goodbye" by Alok and the rhythm is the exact style I love to hear in Electronic music but I have not a single clue of what type o genre could it belong to.

I'd like to have the ability to play a playlist by genre.

I've been fumbling around creating different playlists for all the songs I like by genre but I've noticed that many songs have overlapping genres and I find it difficult to place certain songs because many of them belong in more than 1 place.

It would be great if every song had genres tagged to them (songs can have more than 1 genre. Rock, alternative rock, classic rock, metal, hip hop, rnb, pop, etc.). Then I could add all the songs I like to a centralized library/playlist. Then I could click a button that selects which genres from that playlist/library to shuffle play. So then I basically just add every song I like to a playlist and can control which ones to play by selecting a subset of genres that exist in that playlist.

This would be different from "Liked" songs. "Liked" songs are used to help you discover more but similar music to what you already like. This idea is for helping me play the ones that I already know I like based on the mood I am in.

Yeah, I have to use an 3rd party app called Skiley to view the genre of a song. It’s a great app and I recommend it but it’s a pain having to switch back and forth every time. There is no reason why Spotify shouldn’t have the exact same functions as the Skiley app.

Since Spotify seems to already have that info, why not display it?

I've been wanting this for such a long time now! It would make my Spotify experience a lot better

Add a glowing random button somewhere which plays random song according your taste profile and it keeps going. Also, add genere detail about song in scrolled down detail field, currently it's just lyrics, artists etc.

Please it's legit so important to be able to see genra.

I just to use everynoise but with it gone it's impossible.

I want to know what music I'm listening to and be anle to find more of it on my own. I can't really on Spotify made play lists.

When I find a song with a sound/vibe/style I really like I need to be able to know the genra so I can find more of it and and explore.

Right know you can't find any knew genras because you need to know what they are already to be able to search for them. Because you can't simply check the genr on a song you already like.

Hello Spotify team,

I’d like to suggest a feature that I believe many users would really appreciate. It would be great if Spotify could display the genre of each song or album, either in the credits section or somewhere visible like at the top of the album page.

Knowing the genre helps us discover music more easily and understand the style of what we’re listening to. This would improve the user experience and help with music discovery across the platform.

Dear Spotify Team,

I am a passionate user of your platform and truly appreciate the wide range of music and the curated playlists.

I’ve noticed that currently there is no direct way to see the genre of a specific song. I believe that many users — myself included — would find this information both helpful and interesting.

My suggestion would be to include the genre information in the song or album view, for example, below the artist name or within the three-dot menu.

Thank you for your great work and for taking this feedback into consideration!

Best regards,

Benjamin Gutmann

YES! I can’t tell you how many times I would hear a new song I liked and not know what genre to look for.
