For some reason millions of people in the internet type the wrong email addresses when they create new accounts. Or at least it happens with my email accounts, by the hundreds :)
The problem is when a company like Spotify sends an account creation confirmation email but:
1. Does not include a link to reject the submission/break the association of the email address with the account
2. Doesn’t wait for anyone to click on the confirm button to activate the account.
The result: my inbox is flooded with payment requests for a Spotify Premium account that isn’t mine, and I have to spend my own time to contact support to get it fixed.
I noticed that this was suggested before, but was closed as a duplicate of MFA. I don’t think it is. It is much simpler and independent of MFA.
