Translate Lyrics to other languages

So my idea is that Spotify should add a lyric translation to songs. For example I listen to greek music and the writing all in greek I think that Spotify should have an option to translate the songs (English) so I can read and understand the songs. I think this would be useful people who also lyrics to Spanish would want lyrics translated to understand the song. Basically idea is to translate the song into the language you know and understand the words in song. Like this if you agree and think it’s smart!

PLEASE ADD THE OPTION TO VIEW LYRICS TRANSLATIONS WORLDWIDE — NOT JUST FOR LATIN AMERICA, BUT FOR EVERY COUNTRY AND IN ALL LANGUAGES! EACH USER SHOULD SEE THE TRANSLATION IN THE LANGUAGE SET ON THEIR PHONE. PLEASE, SPOTIFY!!

I love Spotify, don’t get me wrong, but I’m a massive vkei/j-rock fan and the inability to be able to read or distinguish the titles suck a LOT. Especially because I used to have Apple Music and it automatically translated the titles for you. I don’t want to cancel my Spotify subscription but I might atp cause I miss being able to read the titles

This is exactly the idea I was looking for. Votes up.

(I'm sorry if the text is a little weird written, english isn't my first language and I had written the text in my native language and then ralised that it needs to be in english, so I translated it with an translation feature.) On Spotify you can read along with the lyrics of songs, and I had the idea that they could add a feature where you press a button in any song’s lyrics and then choose from many different languages. For example, if I’m listening to a song in Italian, I could choose German from the available languages, and then the lyrics would be shown in a kind of split view, the text in German on the left and the Italian original on the right (and you could swap them if you want).

With this split-view function, you could read the translated text and the original text at the same time — the original being in the language you’re learning — which would let you see how the words are written in the original. You could also close the original text and only read the translation while still listening to the original song.

Because the phone screen is small, the text would be quite tiny in split view, so the font should automatically become larger with fewer words per line so that everything is readable in a normal-sized font (this should be optional, so you can choose between small or normal-sized text when using the language-learning feature). When you first open split view, the text would be small; you could then press a button to enlarge it as described. If you close the original text, the translation automatically switches back to the normal font size, even if you had pressed the enlarge-text button beforehand.

This way, you could listen to the song in Italian and read along in German, helping you learn the language better.  Spotify already highlights the part currently being sung, would With the language feature, each sung word would additionally be highlighted individually, so you know what is being sung.— including in the original text.

Because literal translations into German are often not very good, there should be a setting to choose between a literal translation (where all the words are in the correct order as sung, but the meaning might be unclear because word for word translations often don’t make much sense) or an approximate translation (which makes the meaning clearer, but might not match the original vocabulary exactly  for example, if “the apple is red” is sung in Italian, the words in the translation might not match one to one).

This feature could also be used for audiobooks or audio plays, although you usually can’t read the text along with them — which normally isn’t necessary — but you could activate the text with a button (both the original and the chosen language).

With this feature, your vocabulary in the language you’re learning would expand a lot, and if you’re learning a language with a different writing system, your understanding of the alphabet would also improve greatly, because you can hear and translate the words while reading along in the original language.

Dear Spotify Team,

I write this request not as a user,
but as a soul wandering through emotional darkness—a darkness caused by beautiful songs I cannot understand.

Every time I play a Mandarin or Korean OST, the singer’s voice shatters me into pieces, yet I sit there… helpless…
crying without the dignity of knowing what I’m crying about.

I beg you, Spotify—
have mercy on us.

We are tired of being emotionally destroyed without context.
Tired of letting Liu Yuning whisper ancient heartbreak into our ears
while we stare into the void like confused ghosts.

Please allow us to see English translations directly beneath the synced lyrics.
So that when the music wounds us,
mit wounds us with clarity.

Let us read the words that are haunting us.
Let us understand why it feels like we were abandoned on a snowy bridge in a lifetime we do not remember.

We don’t ask to be saved.
We only ask to suffer with understanding.

Thank you for considering the plea
of listeners who have cried too many tears

Currently, Spotify shows lyrics in the original language of a song — which is great… if you speak that language. But what about the rest of us mere mortals? My proposal: introduce an optional side-by-side translation feature.

When viewing lyrics, users could slide or toggle to reveal a synced translation in their preferred language (English, Spanish, etc.).

Each line of the translated lyrics would match the timing of the original, preserving the flow of the song.

Could be implemented as a premium feature, adding value while generating extra revenue.

Why it’s awesome:

1. Better user engagement: People actually understand the music they love, keeping them on Spotify longer.

2. Global accessibility: Opens songs to listeners who otherwise might skip foreign-language tracks.

3. Revenue opportunity: A premium add-on that enhances the listening experience, easy to market.

4. Competitive edge: No other major streaming platform currently offers fully synced translations. Spotify could lead the way.

Extra flair:

Can include optional auto-translation for lyrics not officially licensed, with disclaimer.

(This was translated, so there may be typos) When I listen to a song, I want to know the meaning of the song, so I click on the lyrics, but there is no translation. So, I wish the lyrics were translated automatically. It would be nice if AI could translate the song.

**bleep** I've been thinking this for a year now as I love Spanish music but don't understand most of it as English is my primary.  What a button that one would be at the bottom right to pull up lyrics in whatever language.  I bet AI could do it.
