[Your Library] Keep lyrics up at all times

I like having the lyrics accessible, and having to swipe up and click lyrics is a pain. Instead of the album cover, it would be awesome to have the option to have the lyrics there instead!

You get that 'appeasing' the users is the entire point of a suggestions forum, right?

That said as someone whose day job is making web wrapped apps not dissimilar to Spotify, no this would not be a 'tough' thing to add that takes a lot of effort. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, Mitre224466.

There is however a legitimate reason they don't have this: it takes an additional fetch request to get the lyrics and they don't want to do that for every single song unprompted as it would be a waste of bandwidth in most cases.
This is also why (in addition to it being a feature to upsell premium) free users are limited in how many song lyrics they can view.

•You must suck at your day job because Spotify is a native app, at least on mobile which I believe is what’s being put on blast here.  I also have a day job working with websites but won’t make the pretentious stretch to assume I know how this would be implemented. Nonetheless tone down the ego. 

•Despite your efforts of convincing sarcasm, platforms are by their nature not meant to cater to the endless suggestions and recommendations from its users. Do you expect the same from other platforms? Are you indignant with Facebook, YouTube, etc.? 

•This is not a “suggestion forum.” This is a community. Yes, you can make suggestions. But to interpret the community as a place where you can badger moderators and pretend your ideas hold sway just because you have them is a clear sign that you’re your biggest fan and the sad reality is that you’re not important. 

•Spotify is apparently working on a more robust partnership with a provider of lyrics, and could very well be rolling out new functionality on this. Or maybe not. The point is, no matter if you’re a paying user, free user, or using your mom’s account which is likely your situation, Spotify doesn’t want to upset you- they know you’re sensitive. But they are also not going to overextend themselves on something trivial that they don’t want to do. You’re not in charge of what they do, so my advice remains: Help yourself.

How about adding a "Pin" icon, so when the lyrics page is pinned it will keep showing the lyrics, also when the song changes?

Yes make “lyrics always showing” a subscription option! I would absolutely pay more to always have lyrics showing in Spotify!

Or make this an option I can select within my premium choices. That would be even better if course. I want lyrics always showing! Explicit is totally cool! I don’t care they can say literally anything, I just can’t hear well enough.

This is default behavior in a lot of other apps. A simple toggle on the lyrics screen would do the trick!

It's a shame that Spotify doesn't have the option to keep lyrics always available. I'd even be willing to pay more for that feature!

So annoying, having to keep pressing tabs to get the lyrics on for each song..

Just leave them on, why isn’t it standard  🤷🏻‍

I’m on Spotify because my son uses it and I thought I’d try the “family” package..

I don’t think I’ll be staying, as it’s just not as convenient as Apple Music (for me) 

update: 02/10/24 

I binned it and back to Apple Music now.

It’s just so handy, as soon as I open the app, even after being force closed, it remembers I was on lyrics and there they are !

Why are you leaving ? Asks Spotify questionnaire  … no perma lyrics option … and I’m not paying more for less options.. 

£19.99 for Spotify family compared to £16.99 for Apple Music family. 

I know I’m just a nobody and they won’t miss me, but,,
