[Your Library] Remove individual track from saved album

I don’t know when this change was made, but today I noticed that when I am looking through my saved music library by album, there are songs I specifically did not save for a reason, whether that be because it is a re-released song from a previous album I already have saved, or a song I just don’t like that I don’t want to play when I’m listening through an album. This change gives us way less control over our own saved music library. Please change it back.

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Thanks

I currently save every album as its own playlist in part due to this issue. I want to save an album but i may want to remove tracks. I may only want 3 tracks out of 12. I dont want those 3 tracks to be in my Liked tracks list.. as then they dont appear under Albums or Artists unless I Follow them.

As I write it just draws attention to the elephant in theroom. Spotify Archiving, Folders and Segmentation is terrible. Just awful. If you purely copied Deezer we would be light years ahead of where we are now.

I have no idea why this has been so slow to sort out, being the biggest drag of the Spotify platform.

This one idea I support but its just the tip of the iceberg, an iceberg so top heavy it may collapse.

What you want is the way Spotify worked before they made the entire platform less user friendly. There was no explanation for why these changes were made. It's very frustrating to not have as much control over your own personal library and flexibility in how you listen to it. The loss of some filters impacted my ability to quickly listen to what I wanted. In all honesty, I rarely use Spotify anymore and my kids now only listen to a couple of artists they like. They largely moved to YouTube after the changes.

Haha! Imagine making changes to be more user friendly. Imagine instead of leaving features that users want, going to extra effort to remove them. Incredible

absolutely right about the lack of explanation.
Come to think of it, I'm less frustrated about the absence of the feature
as I am about the illogical aspect of it and the lack of explanation.

I have to assume it's related to $$$ (maybe if an album is listened full it
drives more revenue? ) and I would accept that - of if for whatever reason
playlists are the behavior they want to drive. But as it stands, it looks
illogical which adds insult to injury.

The entire premise of moving music in the digital world, from the p2p days
to Spotify was that you could just listen to that 1 song from the album...
now I'm stuck with "time 4 **bleep**" every time I listen to Dr Dre's Chronic
2001...

I still maintain some of these changes were made simply to appease record labels and artists. I'm sure the artists love seeing all the people that follow them on their 'artist' page since we are required to follow in order to use the library in a kind of functional way. I bet number of songs 'saved' by users gets a nice bump with the requirement that all songs on an album are saved.

You can now 'hide' tracks. Does this resolve the issue for everyone?

@hot-spot

Nope it doesn't! Hidden tracks still show up in my queue when I play an album from the top, they still get downloaded with the album, they don't sync across devices and you can't hide anything from the desktop app. It's almost entirely useless except in playlists, apparently the only place the feature does anything

Lol. Saves me the experience of getting frustrated when trying to use it. Thanks. So I still have playlists for every album? Why!! Lol and I still have to 'follow' everyone just to have them appear in the artists tab.. even if I have saved their tracks.. Ive given the community a promotional push on FB and LinkedIn. More people use it more votes I will get

awkwardpickle

All right well I am mildly pleased to report that the "hiding" feature seems to work at least a bit now! On a recently released record, I tried hiding some songs, played the album by tapping the first song and the hidden songs did not queue! Astonishing. However, not all albums behave this way, so the feature is bugged somehow. But I'll take what I can get I suppose.

It remains incredibly stupid that you can't hide songs on the desktop app, and that songs hidden on mobile don't sync to desktop.

Well.... It's already an improvement! Thanks for reporting this @awkwardpickle!

Now we just need that the hidden songs are not downloaded for offline listening! Let's hope it doesn't take another year.
