[Your Library] Search within all Playlists

Often, I'd like to find a song within one of my saved playlists.  I have a few playlists with over a thousand songs and this becomes difficult.  If I really want to listen to a certain song, I end up doing a general search, but then I have to go back to my playlist to continue listening there.  I'd like to be able to search within a playlist and then continue listening from that playlist.

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Thanks

- spotifyFinder.com is safe to use...i use it all the time

- the site is free, ad free, tracker free, and open source

- a link to the source code is on the home page

- it is hard to lose money when the site is free to use.

- i know quite a few folks who use spotifyFinder.com

Thanks for the info!

if you could do this, you'd be able to find where you last saved a song.

i have made many playlists that i lose track of. some gem finds that i cant recollect because i have so many playlists.

It's actually insane that this has been an issue since 2017 and set to "Not Right Now" status since 2019 lol. Please listen to your users.

Having liked songs as default vs having albums default add to library

doesn’t make sense when I want to find an individual song I can’t get it in library search have to go to liked song

counter intuitive , doesn’t make sense

I’d like to suggest a potential upgrade to the “Your Library” search function.

Currently, the search within the Library appears to prioritize albums, which can make it difficult to locate specific songs—especially if the user only remembers part of the song title. Expanding the Library search functionality to include individual song names would greatly improve usability. This would be particularly helpful for locating lesser-known tracks that may not appear prominently in the general search results.

Hi Spotify team,

I’d love for the “Your Library” search on mobile to support searching track names / artist across the WHOLE library.

Right now, it only finds playlist titles — not the songs/artist themselves — which makes it really hard to navigate a large library.

Sounds like a fairly BASIC functionality.

Thanks for considering!

Feature Request: Search Within Your Library

The Problem: Currently, when searching in Spotify, results pull from the entire platform's catalog. This makes it difficult to find specific music you've already saved when you can't remember exact artist names or song titles. For example, if I search "relaxing guitar," I get global recommendations rather than the acoustic artists I've already discovered and liked.

The Solution: Add a toggle or filter option to limit search results to only:

  • Your liked songs
  • Your followed artists
  • Your saved albums
  • Your playlists

Use Cases:

  • "I know I saved some great jazz piano music but can't remember the artist"
  • "Which of MY artists have songs with 'summer' in the title?"
  • "Show me all the indie folk in my library"
  • "Find that electronic artist I liked last month"

Implementation Ideas:

  • A simple "Search in My Library" toggle at the top of search results
  • Filter chips like "My Artists Only" or "Liked Songs Only"
  • A separate search bar within the Your Library section

This would make rediscovering our own carefully curated music collections much easier, especially for users with large libraries built over years. It respects that we often want to revisit music we've already validated as matching our taste, rather than always exploring new content.
