[Your Music] Add LOCAL FILES to Your Music

First of, I'm a huge fan of the new layout.

But as the title says I'd like to add my own beloved local files to the "Your Music". I don't see why this shouldn't be a possibilty. This way I don't need to have one master playlist, I can just have all the music I like under "Your Music -> Songs".

Also, as suggested earlier, changing the font size could be usable to many people.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for bringing us your feedback in the Spotify Idea Exchange.

We're marking this as a 'Good Idea'.

Please know your feedback is reaching the internal teams at Spotify, and they're aware of the votes around this idea. We'll continue to check out the comments here, too.

In the meantime there's a workaround we can suggest to ultimately get Local Files added to your Liked Songs on a mobile device:

First, add your personal music collection using the recently updated Local Files feature (Android/Desktop how toiOS how to) where they'll appear in Local Files. You can then add them to your playlists. Just right click > add to playlist.

Once your track is discovered on your mobile app, Once your track is discovered on your mobile app, you'll be able to tap the heart icon to add it to your Liked Songs as you would any other track. Keep in mind, that it is currently not possible to add Local Files to Liked Songs on the desktop app.

We know it's not ideal, but hope that it will be useful for some of you.

If there are any new updates, rest assured we'll let you know,

Cheers!

Yes please, do this. The local files should appear also in your music and be synchronized automatically.
As it is currently, one has to create a playlist for all the local files and sync the playlist. Random shuffled music won't include local files as they are confined in the playlist.
To get a true random play one has to create a master playlist and update it manually every time one adds a song. This is just awful.

Yeah, I've written a similar topic after this. And I'm exactly supporting this idea.

What would be so wrong with allowing Spotify to link to and add to your library, all the songs that are already purchased and stored in your HDD or NAS? As long as Spotify is receiving their $10 a month for the upgraded membership, who cares where the music comes from? I just dont understandthis missing feature.

Any updates on this? The exact same problem still exists and I'd really like to see the developers make some progress on it!

Yeah, I'm unable to play my local files (voice recordings) ...they are showing up grey because they are apparently unavailable in my location (Germany)...but they are local files. I don't exactly understand it. The only thing I'm thinking of is that the SD card is from America, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. Just Not sure. Can anyone help?

Dankeschoen!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for bringing us your feedback in the Spotify Idea Exchange.

We don't have plans to add Local Files to your music right now, so we're marking this as a 'Not Right Now'.

Rest assured we'll continue to check out the feedback here, and if there are any updates we'll let you know.

Thanks.

Thanks for the update, @Melody. Our feedback continues to be that we'd really like this feature, and we hope you'll bring it to the attention of the developers if you haven't already.

Dear friends and members of the spotify staff .. I consider myself an admirer of this application and a regular user. When it was just launching this fabulous application I was one of the first to get it and even convinced a lot of friends to forget about Deezer and itunes music because spotify was the best. Little by little they changed the software and one of the best features in which you could create folders with the music of your library was eliminated. It is increasingly difficult to update the music in the devices and when it is achieved, it is never updated completely. I regret having to tell you that since the Swedes took over the service, it has been declining and for the first time in many years I am considering unsubscribing and testing with the competition. How sad that something that starts working so well ends up disappointing you.
