[Your Music] Creating "Collections" of Albums

I have an idea that could make using Spotify better for people who put a lot of effort into managing their music libraries (and for everyone else as well).

Collections menu in Your Library

The idea is simple: Being able to create collections or lists of whole albums. Of course you could just add albums to regular playlists but then it just adds the songs separately, which is messy, so you can't easily see which or how many albums are there in the list or checking if there are missing songs.

You can add and remove whole albums to collections, much like songs to playlists

By having album collections we could easily see which albums are added to them and it would make it quicker to select certain albums for downloading by toggling the download button of a collection containing them. We could also re-order the list of albums quicker than re-ordering a simple playlist of consecutive albums broken down to songs.

This would also make it possible to listen to certain albums in a specific or even random order without having to add every album to the queue one by one.

You can download/un-download every album in the collection with one tap, you can also either play the albums in order or shuffle them, or even shuffle all songs within the albumsAdding or removing albums from collections

Not quite the same. You can't play folders from the Android app, and you can't add folders to the queue, even from the Windows app. So folders aren't even close to a decent solution.

Great idea. I often use the "save album" function whenever I find a good review or get a recommendation from friends. But it would be awesome to sort these saved albums in this way.

The saved albums list easily gets really messy.

Oh, and by the way. Do any of you know why the "saved album" view is different from the standard view of an album?

I get that I can save only a couple of tracks from one album and then see those only as my version of the saved album. But who does that?

 I like this idè. For me I have had Spotify since it came out, and by now I have so many lists that I`ve created or that I follow, I would love if we could have collections or folders that I could sort it a bit more and make it easier for me to access this ones rather than piling down a long list of lists. This would enable/encourage me to follow even more channels and it would overall increase my Spotify experiance.

This is such a rad idea! Right now, I don't save albums to my music because I can't put them in folders (which the proposed Collections effectively is). So I've been saving every album as a playlist, which can then be put into a playlist folder.

 This would be fantastic, I'd love to be able to sort my albums by ones I want to try and ones I know I like.

I made a simple Web app that creates playlists of collections of albums. As it's so easy to use (IMO), you can create new playlists on a whim, and erase old ones.

I Like this idea. I´m the type you described "collector user" and I had made lot of effort ordering my playlists. I made my colection of albums as you say by using playlists folders. Sometimes it's hard to move from one way to other. I like  to sort by year of album  launch, top albums of decade, styles, genre and i like also the shuffle listening mode too.

Congratulations for the idea an presentation of that.
