[Your Music] Creating "Collections" of Albums

I have an idea that could make using Spotify better for people who put a lot of effort into managing their music libraries (and for everyone else as well).

Collections menu in Your LibraryCollections menu in Your Library

The idea is simple: Being able to create collections or lists of whole albums. Of course you could just add albums to regular playlists but then it just adds the songs separately, which is messy, so you can't easily see which or how many albums are there in the list or checking if there are missing songs.

You can add and remove whole albums to collections, much like songs to playlistsYou can add and remove whole albums to collections, much like songs to playlists

By having album collections we could easily see which albums are added to them and it would make it quicker to select certain albums for downloading by toggling the download button of a collection containing them. We could also re-order the list of albums quicker than re-ordering a simple playlist of consecutive albums broken down to songs.

This would also make it possible to listen to certain albums in a specific or even random order without having to add every album to the queue one by one.

You can download/un-download every album in the collection with one tap, you can also either play the albums in order or shuffle them, or even shuffle all songs within the albumsYou can download/un-download every album in the collection with one tap, you can also either play the albums in order or shuffle them, or even shuffle all songs within the albumsAdding or removing albums from collectionsAdding or removing albums from collections

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

We're marking this idea as 'Not Right Now' for the time being, as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and we'll continue to pass these along to the right teams.

If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Thanks.

I find it insane that this still isn't something that you can do. I never use playlists at all, which means that there's no way to organize all of the albums that I listen to. I would have to make playlists for all of the albums that I like, which is a ridiculous roundabout way of accomplishing something that should be a basic feature. This seems like such a simple and easy change that could be made, the folder system is already inside the program, all that would need to be done is to allow albums to be added in the folders as well.

Create a playlist (or folder) for liked albums to be sorted. For example, I have albums I like to study too, and having them in one place would be helpful.

Like a song playlist, I think having the option to collect full albums into a playlist would be helpful. For instance, "Japanese Jazz Albums" or "Russian Classical" or "Krautrock". Then i would have a list of albums i could collect, instead of just songs. I realize that I could just add every song on an album into a playlist. But that doesn't look nice and its cumbersome to keep scrolling down. Having a list where i can just see album covers under a single heading would be better.

Hi pfisterj

I think I understand what you're looking for.

I have several saved playlists (not mine). Albums work the same way. Saving an album adds that to your library as a playlist. I then put saved playlists (or albums) in a folder.

When you open that folder each playlist shows it's album cover in the library pane. The folder can be opened fully as shown below.

Would be nice to have the possibility to group titles of albums. This would give the possibility to have an "Albums playlist". Each line could be clicked to display album content for a detailed listening.  Just like a personnal music library and easier search across artists and albums.

Please Spotify! This thread has been going for 8 yearssssss and it seems ridiculous that it's not happened yet! Why? So many people are wanting this feature and it doesn't seem like it would be a big stretch to add it. What would you lose? You'd just have more satisfied customers....... Please help those of ius desperate to sort our albums!

I have amassed rather a lot of playlists recently, and I also like to save a lot of albums, and I thought it would be really cool if you could 1. create folders within your library and 2. more easily place things in a custom order. This would help users in navigating their liked music - for example, I save albums that I want to listen to for the first time so I can access them when I need them, but I also save ones I want to re-listen to and separating these lists would save me a lot of time.

It could also be nice if you could customise what's visible on your profile more, maybe even with a "space" system like on the Airbuds App.

This feature would be so valuable.

I have a lot of albums and i would love to have them well organized.

Hello,

If you utelize folders you can keep everything tidy. In the playlist pane when you click the '+' you select between adding a playlist, blend or folder.

If you create a folder and give it a name to suit. You can then move playlists by dragging them to the folder and dropping them in.

Please note that this idea has status 'not right now'. Which means you have to work with what is available now. Folders are here and they work as you have described.

If you require any further assistance feel free to reach out.

Spotify, please listen to your customers... Sorting albums into folders is a BASIC feature, come on...
Please implement this OR give us a good reason why you're not working on such useful feature that we are waiting for 8 years now.

Thanks in advance
