[Your Music] Creating "Collections" of Albums

I have an idea that could make using Spotify better for people who put a lot of effort into managing their music libraries (and for everyone else as well).

Collections menu in Your LibraryCollections menu in Your Library

The idea is simple: Being able to create collections or lists of whole albums. Of course you could just add albums to regular playlists but then it just adds the songs separately, which is messy, so you can't easily see which or how many albums are there in the list or checking if there are missing songs.

You can add and remove whole albums to collections, much like songs to playlistsYou can add and remove whole albums to collections, much like songs to playlists

By having album collections we could easily see which albums are added to them and it would make it quicker to select certain albums for downloading by toggling the download button of a collection containing them. We could also re-order the list of albums quicker than re-ordering a simple playlist of consecutive albums broken down to songs.

This would also make it possible to listen to certain albums in a specific or even random order without having to add every album to the queue one by one.

You can download/un-download every album in the collection with one tap, you can also either play the albums in order or shuffle them, or even shuffle all songs within the albumsYou can download/un-download every album in the collection with one tap, you can also either play the albums in order or shuffle them, or even shuffle all songs within the albumsAdding or removing albums from collectionsAdding or removing albums from collections

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

We're marking this idea as 'Not Right Now' for the time being, as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and we'll continue to pass these along to the right teams.

If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Thanks.

I ORGANIZE ALL OF MY MUSIC CONSTANTLY AND I LOVE THIS IDEA SO MUCH.

I love this. I was going to suggest a similar idea of queueing up albums to play that would wait until your current album was finished! If I really wanted to push my luck, perhaps we could even have random song choice within each albums came on o_0. Perhaps our ideas could work together!

My problem is when I write, I like to turn on full albums, but right now I have playlists that have one song from a good album that I have to manually choose to go to the album and start from the beginning. When the album is over I need to manually do it for the next song then album. The changes would mean I wouldn't have to kill my writing flow to switch albums and need to go through the process of deciding which album I want to do next, etc. I'd prefer to get it all done before I start and get lost in my ideas. For me it's all about reinforcing flow.

On top of this I think it can reinforce how certain artists look at music. Certain albums are created with the intention of having the songs flow into each other, and this will offer an easier way for music entusiasts to get closer to the ethos of their favorite artists. If people want individual songs, they can turn on youtube with an adblock. This change will attract the type of customers who have a healthier relationship with music and are happier to pay monthly

Great Idea!I was thinking about this just about 2 weeks ago!

Top idea!

This would bring Spotify strongly forward.

Most important thing is to implement this on all platforms. It's a pity that at the moment even the  "show complete album" filter is not implemented on mobile apps. So there is no focus on album lovers @ Spotify.

The ability to save albums in different 'collections' would be great. At present I've got Jazz, Punk, Classical etc all mixed up in a single list. Not easy!

Actually, you can already save your albums into playlist folders and play that folder. User experience could be improved there, but the usage is already possible...

Improvments I see on Playlist Folders reading :

- When playing songs from a folder, the current playlist and song are not highlighted as they are when you play a song directly from the playlist

- From the album screen , we should be able to add the whole album as playlist directly (we can do that by clicking 'Create new playlist', but it is not explicit, and we can't add it directly to a folder)

It's not about placing albums in playlist folders, it's about being able to apply several tags to the same album, to classify it in several categories.

This is exactly what I need!

I 1 up this, great idea.

If this gets made, I'd like to be able to add playlists to collections as well. My album and playlist libraries are a mess, and it would be nice to be able to group related albums/playlists together so I don't have to do quite so much scroll and search.
