[All Platforms][Your Library] Increase maximum Songs allowed in Your Music

I feel like the maximum amount of songs allowed in one playlist, and subsequently in "Songs" playlist under the new "Collections" feature, should be more than 10,000.

Quite frankly it should be unlimited.

We are paying for a service but limited on how many songs we are able to save? That is absurd to me.

I recently started saving all of my albums into "Collections" and got stuck at about 1/4 of the way through - 10,000 songs has been reached and I am no longer able to save any more albums.

PLEASE INCREASE MAX NUMBER OF SONGS IN COLLECTION FEATURE!!!

WHAT IS A COLLECTION IF YOU HAVE TO LIMIT YOUR TASTE???

Updated on 2020-05-26

Hey,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange.

We're excited to be marking this idea as implemented!
We've now removed the limit on saved items in Your Library, making it possible to save songs, and albums on Spotify to your heart's content.

As the app has changed quite a bit since this idea was submitted, please be aware that some functionality is now different. This change does not impact the limit on the number of songs in a playlist other than your Liked Songs.

For more info, check out this blog post.

Ay yo -- Spotify's not fixing this.

If you care about library size, and none of the workarounds work for you,
you gotta go to another service. Apple, Google, and Amazon all have larger
limits or no limit at all! They also have basically the same catalog to
choose from, and mostly the same features.

I left Spotify over a year ago now (for Apple Music) and I have no regrets.
Vamos!

Did you find it easy to recreate all your playlists? What tool or
tools did you use?

I used an app called Houdini to transfer playlists. (I didn't even try to
transfer my 10k song library.)

On playlists... matching was ok, not great. Maybe 85-90% matches on
playlists I transferred from Spotify to Apple.

It's a pain in the **bleep** to move... but one big benefit is you can upload all
your mp3s that aren't available on streaming into Apple Music and listen to
them anywhere you want (Spotify can't do this trick).

Since I started with all my old music in iTunes, I'm already well over the
10k limit without problems!

Thank you. Might need to do this soon so I have backup of all the
years of hard work in Spotify. Also, does Apple Music have a "high
resolution" option as Spotify Premium does, and can I play Apple Music
across devices while using my phone (like Spotify Connect)?

Apple is 256k AAC by default, while Spotify's "high quality" option is 320k
OGG ... most stuff I've read says they're about the same in practice (I
personally don't hear a difference, but I'm not the type to care too much).

I think if you want lossless audio you gotta go with Tidal.

Apple doesn't have "Spotify Connect" as such... but you can obviously play
music from your phone or your Mac to any target speaker that supports
AirPlay.

My biggest warning about Apple Music would be: If you're not all-in on
Apple stuff, then use a different service. For example if you have an
Android phone, I've heard the Apple Music app is pretty bad. However, if
you have a Mac, an Apple Watch, an Apple TV, and an iPhone... it's kind of
a no-brainer.

I'm all Mac, but use modern city-friendly speakers such as Edifier and
Klipsch, which have Bluetooth. Should be OK, I suppose. What I wanted
is that my Mac Mini playing music to the speaker should be
controllable via my phone. I want to move songs, pick playlists NOT
from the Mac Mini (that's playing on the speaker) but instead via my
phone. I suppose this is not possible?

Why does Spotify give us the option of voting for this idea if they're just going to ignore us anyway? If I had a business and saw that almost nine thousand customers and counting, literally increasing by the day, wanted me to fix something stupid about my product, I would be insane to ignore them.

No, you can't do this on Apple Music (as far as I know!). You'd have to
play the music directly from phone to speaker.

Or Deezer or Qobuz.

Hi all - just a follow up - I moved from Spotify to Tidal about three months ago, and am totally happy. The Lossless audio is definitely better - not if I listen on average headphones, but through my main stereo or high quality headphones it is rich. Tidal works really well with Sonos too - (better than Spotify I think).

There is no track limit in the library - mine is at around 30000 tracks and all is good.

You can't copy the library from Spotify but you can copy playlists - with Soundiiz https://soundiiz.com/tutorial/spotify-to-tidal - they have a free service too.

If you want to move - check out Tidal - I think they have a free trial too!
