[Your Music] Make 'Your Music' offline on Desktop

This is a follow up of the idea: Ability to make "Your Music" offline

The issue is that on the desktop client, you cannot save music from "Your Library" offline at all, you must create a playlist.

 e.g.

Spotify Desktop (Your Music)

Notice that there's no way to make that particular album in "Your Music" available offline.

Yet on my Android client, I see a Download option near this album to make it available Offline:

Android (Your Music)

The only items that present such an option on the desktop client are playlists as shown below:

Desktop (Playlists)

On iTunes (Apple Music) however, I can make anything available offline on my desktop:

iTunes (My Music)

This for me is the biggest problem with Spotify and why I'm currently an Apple Music subscriber.  In general, the desktop client lags behind features on the mobile clients which are actually far better.

There are many more examples of differences that I can demonstrate, but this is the most important.

The ability to make My Music available offline on mobiles appeared more than a year ago.  Can we please have this and further differences addressed on the desktop client soon?

Thanks!

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that this feature is now available on Desktop. You can now download not only playlists, but also albums and podcast episodes by clicking on the download icon so that it turns green Mihail_0-1625666628944.png

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

what on earth is going on? this is a simple essential feature thats already available on mobile. I am now considering ditching spotify and subscribing to apple music, something I don't want to do.

I would really enjoy this feature as im sure anyone else in the spotify community would. It almost feels like a scam that you can't download your entire library for offline use. The option is allowed on mobile devices and tablets yet on the desktop it's not. Furthermore If your not going to change this feature or just let it sit as a "Good Idea" at least be more transparent when advertising offline listening and or downloads and make it clear that you wont be able to download your library on a desk top.

Good day

I have had Spotify for 2 months.  Now it is telling me to go on line to listen to music.  I was able to  listen offline but now it wants me to download evertime I go on.   I have very limited gigs so this is very annoying at this time.  What do I do?  Paying for this and then have to re-download each time.    Help please

Great, another pretty essential item that spotify says 'thanks! whata good idea' with no commitment to change.

How is this still not a thing? It's been two years!!!

I am getting frustrated. Need to solve this offline situation. We pay for
this and 2 years is enough. I have had it with promises. REACTION IS
NEEDED NOT FALSE HOPES.

It should surely be such a simple fix?

Also, the only way to get an album to show the 'offline' slider on mobile it to add it to albums, scroll down your long list of albums, opne the album and then make offline. Given that the only way of jumping down your librabry list is to scroll (no ability to search just your libray or quick jump alphabetacised list) then this take ages to get an album donloaded on mobile

It really is just basic fitlering and UI functionality. DO they have any software engineers at Spotify or are they just marketers. The markerters must be doing a great job given how many users are still poutting up with the lousy software. Can you please fire some marketes and hire some software engineers and UI specialists that can get this car wreck fixed? Just go and compare how many clicks/scrolls/time it takes to do basic thinng on Spotify versus other apps.

Having come from Groove (MS shutting it down 😞  ) I've been SHOCKED how bad spotify is by compariosn. In a just world Groove would have many more subscribers and it would be SPotify shutting down. Too many Sheople...

Good idea! Miss this feature. Please fix!!

I recently came from Microsofts "Groove" because they will suspend the service by end of the year. They offered by arrangement with Spotify the ability to transfer my music from Groove to spotify and use a 2 month test subscription for the premium service. I had to learn that they transfer just a list of the titles and albums, so streaming still is necessary. Well, but I expected that I can download my albums in a second step to my desktop computer, as I could in Groove. But now I see that this is not possible.

I CANNOT ACCEPT THAT!

For me this is a critical feature and I will cancel my test subscription and look for another music maker.

Still no movement with this.. good work spotify!
