Apple Watch: Offline Listening

 

watchOS 5 should allow Spotify to develop an app that allows offline listening and streaming via cellular data.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

Тhis has been one of our most upvoted ideas and we've known it's something that our users would really like to see come true. We're happy to announce that this feature will now become available for the Apple Watch Series 3 or later.


It will be gradually rolled out, so it might take a bit until everybody has access to it.  That being said, we'd like to let you know that the roll-out rate has increased a lot in the last weeks, so if you haven't received the feature in the past, try reinstalling the app on your watch again and there's a big chance you'll get Offline listening now.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better and voting to make this happen, here on the Community.

I know that he now works for Spotify but how do you know they are working on releasing the Watch app?

I just started my free Apple Music free 3 months ... if this is not fixed in 3 months, i will sadly turn off Spotify subscription...

This is getting a bit stupid now. Snowy was getting close to release. What happened? The Apple Watch has been available for 2.5 years! I'm getting really close to just switching to Apple Music. Please release this ****ing app!!!

I am going to switch to Android. I do blame Spotify, but I have Alexa devices and Chromcasts. It just seems that Apple makes it difficult from one end and Spotify from the other.

Don't think Apple would allow Spotify Watch App. Who would allow suicide at their own expense?

Don't make me switch to Apple Music! I love Spotify but if I can't stream from the Apple Watch, I'm gonna have to make the switch to Apple Music 😞 At least provide an app to control the Spotify on your phone via the Apple Watch...I'm really surprised you don't even have this yet. Even Pandora has this. Spotify <--- dropping the ball.

Spotify has completely dropped the ball on this. I was an early adopter of Spotify and have enjoyed using the service for several years. Leaving its customers out in the cold like this is unacceptable. The watch has been out for years. There is no excuse for this other than poor vision and leadership from its executives. I will be testing out Apple Music now with the watch and may cancel my subscription.

Sorry! Without Spotify on Apple Watch I will swith to Apple Music. Sorry Spotify.
