[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Hi there,

Is there any update on this? It has been almost 2 years?

Or at least a statement as to why you aren't doing it?

The minor app tweaks are also annoying... But HomePod support would actually be cool....

Come on Spotify, can we at least have an update for this?
It’s clear that this is still a feature that people want. Could we at least have an update, as to whether this is a feature you are taking seriously, and actually working towards implementing.

I fear they are not taking any interest
The appearance of taking an interest in customers and the reality are very
different. At least in this case
It is particularly bad in that when Spotify made a big fuss about access it
seemed reasonable to presume they would do this if allowed
I suspect a lot of people saw this not as contract but a very reliable
feeling hint
I haven’t yet come up with a way in which doing this would make things
worse for Spotify but they persist with their unpredicted stance

Hello Spotify please don’t make change do apple music because of this. I’ve been a Spotify happy costumer since 2012 but I can’t understand why can I play Spotify with Google assistant but not in apples home pod.

Spotify, please help. I am having trouble with making Apple HomePod play Spotify music. Please add functionality. This works well on Amazon's devices but those are **bleep**. I want to hear Spotify music on a quality device.

There has been no update for almost a year, is it ever coming?, or should I also consider changing to Apple Music as so many people have already.

I guess Spotify just doesn’t care about this at all. Guess we’ll just have to go to Apple Music. We’ve literally been waiting a year or two but at this point I’m just sick of it.

Time to move on. You can still monitor the situation.
