play next

I’d like to suggest a new feature similar to one available on Apple Music, which could greatly improve the listening experience. The feature could be called “Play Next”.

The idea is to allow users to select a track and have it inserted as the next in the queue, without interrupting the currently playing song and without simply adding it to the end of the queue. Essentially, it would let users “inject” a track immediately after the current one, making the listening flow smoother and the queue easier to manage.

They have that feature. Once you put a song in que, you can drag it up to next in line.

Yes!, This would be leagues more convenient for building a spontaneous queue, I understand you can already drag things but when I build a large queue (frequent occurrence) it makes it really annoying to manage. Additionally both add next and drag are a feature on apple music and now that spotify has lossless (although not above 44khz) I see the add next button being the only downside of spotify out of the two products, with spotify having much better integrations and algorithms. When I was using apple music (got it for free and used for lossless legitimately 3 days before it was announced for spotify, kept using until i got lossless in the rollout) the play next feature combined with normal add to end of queue and dragging to order was a very seamless process and it just works very naturally, spotify adding this would make me very very happy, hopefully done in a way like in apple music where you can slide the song to the side and pick either next or end of queue.

I also understand if the people at spotify are worried about cluttering the option menu on a song, to me the answer is to just make certain features in that menu opt-in/out so people can manage their menu into being features they find use in.

P.s i really hope for this to be seen by atleast one staffer at spotify, this feature shouldnt be overlooked as convenience is something valued more and more  to peoples music streaming experience each day.

Boost and bump day 1

No because I've BEEEEN thinking about this after I've reaptedly messed up a perfect queue. Like, it's so inconvenient having to shift the song from the bottom of 30 songs to the top. I don't know why you guys don't have this feature yet???!!! You're supposed to be better than Apple Music (you are, I just think you can do better)

Isaac_delange

EXACTLY! ty for boosting

Shhhhhayla

YESSS!! Play next and play last in queue!!! I’m always putting tons of songs in my queue and sometimes I find one I want to hear next after I have 25 songs lined up. So annoying to drag to top!

snaika

oh my god yes PLEASE

its actually SO infuriating having to drag them all the way up

Nope. I wanted it at first but then it hit me, you can just do it by dragging the queue upward. Another butter will make it confusic.

A simple solution to this issue, in my humblest of opinions, is to have the option in Que Settings to a default setting of adding all new songs to end of Que, but to have the option to select "Add New Songs to Top of Que" as many of us want to play that great tune they just found! Thoughts?

Isaac_delange

@tanachantana, consider that spotify should also add a customizable menu as its already cluttered with things many people dont use much at all
