[All Platforms] There's a genre called mellow gold?

I just went through spotify.me and it told me 33% of my music is A genre called "Mellow Gold" and when I look that up there's nothing about it except the album by Beck- which out of the hundreds of songs in my library I have one song by Beck... so that is confusing and I was wondering if anyone has an explanation for why Mellow Gold is a genre

It's made up by Spotify.

"Mellow Gold contains elements of soft rock and folk rock, and has a strong correlation with album-oriented classic rock of the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. Emphasis is on clean production, harmonies, and melodic compositions."

Here's a playlist by Spotify:

It must be like 60s, 70s rock or something because I’ve got it pretty high up and that’s mostly what I listen to

It's sounds to me like what people normally associate with Laurel Canyon music. Sort of like country pop rock, artists like Jim Croce John Denver the Carpenters etc. Tom Petty is a great later example.

Lol @ "Emphasis is on clean production, harmonies, and melodic compositions."

That sounds just like a definiton of "music".   Everything else is just noise.

That

That sounds like a definitoln

Apparently my No 1 artist is chicane but I don’t have a single song of theirs in my entire saved collection and I don’t listen to them at all
