Love the Portugal The Man "Woodstock" the image of a burning Car is such an intriguing image it makes me want to like the music before I even hear it. It's a great example of a how a compelling image can be all you need for a great cover.
I'm not even a fan of Matthew Sweet and yet this cover made me pause and take a listen and that's a sign of a great cover. It has this wonderful fantasy quality that makes me wonder what the music sounds like inside.
I'm drawn to this cover, it has something of Magritte meeting a vintage Peter Gabriel.

In my opinion TheXX have the best album cover atm.

Just 50 years ago this debut album by Velvet Underground with an iconic cover without a doubt created by Andy Warhol neither more nor less than the leader of the pop art movement.
A great album, which played songs with subjects that weren't used to talk at that time as prositution, use and abuse of drugs and different sexual deviations, a band was a great influence for later bands and therefore led by the great Lou Reed.
In a few words They wer some advanced in time all the way, we not only can hear it in their music but it is seen in the elaboration of this cover that today will seem to us not much but certainly it is so much for the graphic art as for the Music industry.
