I'm putting a lot of time into my playlists and the list is designed as a listen from-start-to-finish (but shuffle works as well ofc).

Indie music; always evolving, searching beyond the mainstream wall, exploring the deep spectrum of creativity, emotion and intelligence. 100 cuts of indie rock, folk, electronica, lo-fi, dreampop, noise rock, and all kinds of genre-bending wonders. These are the top 100 indie songs of 2014, and the list will be perfected until the year has ended.

I wish there was an indie billboards chart or something to help us find an answer. But then again "Indie" can carry a bunch of different definitions (Heck, Sia could be considered "indie" in the U.S.). Despite not being a big fan, I think St. Vincent took the win statistically through sheer record sales. However there are a couple other bands on my roster who could've won. You can listen to them on my indie playlist called Riverside Drive.

I've been forming this playlist of indie songs for over a year and a half now while paying special attention to the genre, instruments, and beats of each song. If your planning on cruising down open roads with friends and your feet out the window this is the playlist for you! Riverside Drive features a number of familiar indie rock/pop artists like Imagine Dragons, Lana Del Rey, The 1975, Young the Giant, and Walk the Moon as well as some refreshing unfamiliar hits your sure to fall in love with. I love that Benjamin Shaw song, thanks for the great tip! I cannot make my mind up on J Mascis, I want to love it but I can't decide what to do. I've added these songs:

Stu larsen " Vagabond " 2014 ( 11 tracks )

This is the second album called Vagabond to cross my desk this year. Whilst the first by Eddi Reader had a sense of her reconnecting with her Scottish homeland and looking back on her musical journey, Stu Larsen’s globe trotting is in full swing. You only have to look at his website, which is more of a travelogue than the traditional musician’s shop window. There are as many places as there are faces, if not more and although not all of the photos are Stu’s, it still adds up to a mostly first hand account of a fairly epic journey, peppered with tour schedules and even the odd map to chart his progress across the USA. Dry the River is so good. I had the pleasure to see them live in Gothenburg. My favorite of that album is Gethsemane which is in my Top 100.

Just added My Favourite Faded Fantasy by Damien Rice, who's finally back! Give it a listen 🙂
