Disappointing Albums of the year 2015 (so far)

Hello guys! =)

Last month we started a very interesting discussion about our favourite album of this year 2015. It's been a great year with dozens of quality albums to listen! However, sometimes a new awaited release can dissapoint us. Maybe it's difficult to recognize that a band that you always loved has released a new album that you simply don't like. It's natural, although it hurts. Music evolves and some bands are trying to adapt their projects to the trendy sounds feraring the risk of trying experiencing new ones. Many times they convince us with their new albums, but unfortunately, some others they're not in your same wavelength.

For example, I am a big fan of Blur. In my opinion Damon Albarn is one of the best musicians and songwriters of the last decades. I had great expectancies with the new return of the famous alternative rock band this year. Their last album was released on 2003, it was the longest gap between two studio albums I have ever waited. If it were not enough, Graham Coxon, the legendary Blur's lead guitarrist, returned after his absent on the last album of 2003. Finally the new album, 'The Magic Whip', arrived... but where is the Blur I have been waiting for the last 12 years? Don't know, probably because of my great expectancies and a different way to understand music now, but 'The Magic Whip' is my biggest disapointment of the year.     What about yours?

'THE MAGIC WHIP

pd: The aim of this discussion is to express our opinion, it's not meant any disrepect to any band or artist, and I ask the same for you.The goal is to explain your musical disappointment of the year. Keep in mind that something may be disappointing for someone and sensational for other.

Personally, I have a rule that I use to apply to everything I do about music : when I don't like I don't talk about. That means I don't include in a playlist, I don't recommend or I don't comment about. Music is too much subjective and tastes are very different from one person to another that I feell not fair to express opinion publicly.  :)

Good example with that album of Blur. I like Blur, I saw them many times on stage. This last album has many good songs in my opinion :)

The time where an album has 100% of great songs is over. Now, albums are not anymore the priority for most artists/bands and I dare anyone to find an actual album perfect from beginning to the end :)

Whatever I do, I try to be positive :)

Why wouldn't one say for example. I dislike The Beatles, i really dislike the way John Lennon sings. Someone disagrees with this and you can have a discussion. How can you have a good opinion about something if you only say what you like about an artist / topic, and not what you dislike about it.

I think (constructive) negative feedback is as good as positive feedback, you can learn from both.

In my case, I'm a music lover too and I like to talk about everything, not only about what I like and why I like it, also about what I don't like and why I don't like it. What I'm proposing is simply talk about disappointing albums of the year, considering that it's a common situation for a music fan. Not a big deal...

Anyway, I don't agree with the idea that 'The time where an album has 100% of great songs is over'. Every year I enjoy with new great bands and fantastic albums from the beginning to the end. Different point of view, of course. However, for me it doesn't make sense, if some topic admits different opinions; why can we discuss them and share our point of view on the matter? It is not about being right or possess the truth. it comes to talking about music from all perspectives.

Thanks for express your opinion btw!

What I mean is that discussion about music tastes it's like a no ending story :)

I am old enough to already have had that kind of discussion thousand of times :)

Each one want convince the other that he/she is wrong. :)

That's why now, I listen music almost 24/24 (well I sleep sometimes :D ), I dig new music daily,  I select what I feel interesting, I curate playlists and after or people like and they follow or they don't like and I am not going to try to convince them :)

I am not against discussion but when, for example, I read different reviews of albums by supposed "music specialist" from different well established sites, I rarely agree with what they say. Then rather get mad and comment what they write, I keep my opinion and then I lose less energy :D

@Soundofus: You have an interesting opinion. Do you also think like this about other topics, for example politics, work or relationships?

If you only say what you like about a person or a topic how will people ever know what you really think?

I don't want to offend you, was just thinking about it.

this is not about convincing the other people, just sharing opinions... When I express my opinion I don't want to convince the others, nobody possessed the true. Honestly, I can't understand your position.

@Jazzwhatever well talking about relationship, politics it's totally different. These subjects are a part of my privacy and I don't talk about publicly on forums with people I don't know personally. That doesn't mean I never talk about. :D

I will give you an example :i I can say I don't really like most of playlists featured on the green room. You can ask why ? : I will answer because most of them are not my taste, as simple as that. It's just my own criterias and of course it's different for evryone. I guess if we start to talk about we will always keep on your own opinion. :) That doesn't mean I am right or I am wrong neither do you. That just means we don't have the same opinion :)

Then most of time it will be a never ending discussion :)

@Sanik007 Yes of course, I agree, it's just sharing opinion. But if we take the example of the Blur album, you said your were disappointed then I can tell : I don't understand why you are disappointed because I think it's a good album. :) Then you won't agree with that and we can share our opinions during hours, at the end you will still be disappointed and I still won't be.

That's exactly the same if you go to a museum to check some paintings. There is some you won't understand why they are famous and you won't have any feelings in front of them. But someone else will tell you : "What !!! you don't like, but it's such a great painting.Don't you see this, that, don't you feel humanity in it ? etc..." But you will stay cold, still not understanding... Another never ending discussion :)

Exaclty the same with music...

@Soundofus if you say ' I don't understand why you are disappointed because I think it's a good album. :)' I will say nothing because is your opinion and my aim expresing my opinion is not attack or undervalue others. Everyone has a point of view, it's great to know them all.

@Soundofus i agree with you that everyone has his own opinions. Music taste is personal, but i find it interesting to read / hear what other people have to say about certain music / albums. Even when i don't agree about what they have to say. Different opinions can change my point of view. Maybe that's the difference between you and me. I am interested in other people's opinions and you have your own opinion and you are not open minded to other opinions (about music).

I don't mean that this is wrong or right, it's just a personal difference in character.

Do you agree with me ? :)
