Female singers in electronic music

Hey there,

I'm always looking for songs like this one, featuring female singers over some smooth and fresh beats.

Just share the ones you like here! 🙂

Hey! 🙂

/whispering under breath/ should enable the same volume level for all songs...

I'm not sure how new or fresh it is, but there is a great female artist named Sofie Letitre that has awesome songs.

I recommend the following album:

Hey @Bittencourt!

Here's some suggestions from me on this subject.

spotify:track:4gRAniZdYF2zVrDUsNC9tU:small

yaeji is an artist who I found through the BBC Sound of 2018 list. This tune hooked instantly.

Zara Larsson is one of Sweden's most celebrated recent popstars, and this collaboration with Clean Bandit is an absolute banger. Total pop melodies, Huge anthemic chorus, soft bass drops... Stone cold pop at it's finest.

Skott's been making waves for a while, with a lot of blogs showing the love for her singing style. This one's sung so delicately, it's fragile and webbish...

Another huge sound from the Scandinavian wilderness, Sigrid's been getting a lot of attention over the last year. Here's why.

The debut album from Kelly Lee Owens last year was a critical success with the underground and left-field press. Imagine this booming an underground Berlin club... Also features Jenny Hval on one track, and she's worth some research too. Her music is extrordinary.

When it comes to female electronic singers, I've always loved Krewella. They're Pakistani sisters, and they've been doing music since at least 2012. I've liked tracks such as these by them;

Hey @Jack, great additions, thanks!

I was blown away when I first heard Yaeji. Kelly Lee Owens is also amazing.

I guess you'll like this one too:

Ah, nice @Bittencourt! I enjoyed this Agar Agar track.

I'll have to make a note of them to listen to some more.

Definitely electronic, @rossi1911. Murder is already a classic, I think.

And I didn't know this one from Tove Lo, love it!

Hey @Bittencourt, I found something more! Maybe you'll like this too. 🙂

The label called MethLab has an artist called The Science.
Beautiful mix of haunting female voices, ethnic sounds and deep electronic beats.

This artist doesn't have a lot of music released, just three songs in the following album:

spotify:album:5OB7GHM36F1MLlRaLfT4lV

The remix album is worth a listen too if you liked the originals. 😉

This is like Lorde singing over Bjork's instrumentals 😄

I second Yaeji, she's incredible:

Big fan of Mallrat. Similar style to Yaeji:

Superorganism continues the talking/apethitic lead vocal vibe:

JEFFE is a new up and coming Sydney artist. This song hits you in the feels:

Purity Ring are just one of the best in this category:

And last I'll chuck in my own band. See if it's down your alley:

I used to like CHVRCHES back when they released their first album, but since then all the following releases sound the same to me, like a repeated formula. Or maybe that's just me getting old and grumpy 🙂

Hey @Gibtits thanks for that!

Yaeji is just the sweetest - I wish I was her friend 🙂

Mallrat and Superorganism, awesome as well (you know where Something For Your Mind was taken from, right?)

The great surprise to me was JEFFE. I've never heard of her. That's what I call a fresh find!

Wow, and there's... YOUR band! That's really good!

Where do I buy this song? It would fit really well on my setlist 🙂

No worries Rodrigo!!

No I don't. Where is it from?

Thanks heaps dude!!

The only place at the moment is iTunes I think.

I agree with what said @Bittencourt about CHVRCHES. Debut album was something relativly fresh and acceptable. Since then, it turned into a Poppy Soup following commercial recipes based on the "good looking" singer. Plus, even if they used computer, synths and so on, it's not electronic music, it's simply Pop. People often do this confusion about Electronic music.

So I will talk about Alison Wonderland the Australian musician, electronic dance music DJ, producer and singer. Her last album Awake has been released yesterday (April 6, 2018).
