Music and Rain

Hey all!

It's Monday again.

This morning, I looked out of the window to a hopeful, yet brief soft blue sky. I knew that it would be cold out. But, as I put on my coat and gloves, that flicker of sunshine and colour made the thought of my early morning commute to work a little easier.

It's the afternoon now, and the city's been laced with a fine rain. The gentle blue has been burried, and the sky's turned to a thick, heavy, clouded grey. 

As I wave goodbye to the vibrant morning and tuck into a warm drink, I watch the raindrops hit the window and spiral down.

Although the rain can add a little mysery to your Monday, it got me thinking about how many beautiful songs mention the rain. And, it's LOTS.

Jeff Lynne, the guy behind ELO, went to a Swiss chalet to compose his next record. He was caught by a torrential rain that went on for days.
So he wrote "Concerto for a Rainy Day", a suite made of 4 tracks, that ends with the famous "Mr. Blue Sky".

@yourninatchka Thank you for sharing this! I have had this whole album on repeat or the past week now, it is so good! It reminds me of The Avalanches, and I noticed one song off of the album-Alone (Not Really)-even uses the same sample from The Avalanches song Since I Left You.
