Music specifically for creative writing

I've been thinking about how to describe music that works for writing. Of course it's different for everyone, but let's take my personal experience because I think there are more people that would feel the same about it.

Side note: I'm not good with labelling music with common genres. Not because I don't want to conform to anything, just because I've never exchanged a lot of thoughts on music with others which leaves me with a lack of 'musical common ground' with most people.

For instance, when I want to get 'inspired', I like to listen music that is > 10 minutes long. The longer it keeps flowing, the longer you keep floating.

Other keywords that typically come to mind when music gets me going creatively are:

- playful but melancholic
- very slow build up
- dramatic, but not too heavy and not ironically
- timeless
- hypnotizing, but not in a minimal way

Anyone else who reckognizes this and has something to add or a playlist to share? I gave it a shot here: https://open.spotify.com/user/thomaestim/playlist/7rSzEl8MW3rUrwnLTnHKUl

@Tim_Thomaes yes, I do recognise some of the songs in your list and understand this feeling too. I would like to share this playlist for songs that I've been collecting so far for this purpose. Music accompaniment, being there in the shadow, appearing at times. Hope you'll find some that you like.

I am not a creative writer myself but my boyfriend is. He showed me an artist named Joanna Newsom a few months ago who completely captivated me. I understand why he is so enchanted by her. She is a harpist/pianist. If the music isn't anything you could vibe with, just read her lyrics. She actually isn't on Spotify so I can't embed anything but I guess I can share a Youtube link. I'm pretty sure my boyfriend and I could work out a polygamous relationship with her...

This is my favorite song by her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBtVaHkJc4I

Thanks for the topic - really great concept!

I'm a writer myself but find that I usually can't listen to music while I write. I get a little too scatterbrained. But when it comes to "thought provoking music", this is what comes to mind.
