April 24, 1989 : Full Moon Fever, debut solo album by American musician, singer-songwriter, Tom Petty, was released.




Fun facts :

* Recorded in 1987 / 1988, the album produced by Jeff Lynne (ELO) has initially been rejected, as missing a hit song, by the label MCA.
* Tom Petty got support from his good friends Jeff Lynne and George Harrison. They decide to form their own group.
* The Traveling Wilburys (Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty) record their debut album which is released in october 1988.




* A few months later a new management takes over at MCA.
* After a fresh new listen, the label decides to releases Petty's debut solo, as they find that it's a great album.
* The album sold 5 millions copies in USA.
* The album spawned four charting singles : I Won't Back Down / Runnin' Down A Dream / Free Fallin' / A Face In The Crowd /
