Share tracks where you enjoy the drums/percussion

Are there any songs that you like where the drums or percussion stands out to you? Feel free to share!

Here’s a track from my library by OM, where I think the drums (played by Chris Haikus) sound great:

I also really like the sounds of the drums (played by Kostas Harizanis) on this track by Naxatras, especially at the beginning:

And here’s a track by Brant Bjork, who played all the instruments on his 1999 debut album, Jalamanta, which was remixed and remastered last year. I especially enjoy the sound of the cymbals on this track:

"The Jessica Numbers" by The New Pornographers has a sophisticated measure and drum sequence. I find it very hard to imitate.

The first song that comes to mind that has percussion I really love is Untitled Horn by Spectrasoul. However I've posted that in so many threads already... so : )

I've been really into this track by Ascent. It's a fast-paced electronic track full of percussion shaped in so many different ways. My favourite part is this galloping part which happens twice in the track, and which always makes me feel like dancing or flying, or both at the same time. Expect to hear gritty experimental bass music:

There's also this very new release by Two Fingers and Only Child Tyrant.. which are both Amon Tobin projects.

(so he collaborated with himself)

He is a master at creating drums that sound so living and yet so strange. It washes me over...I just, I love it so much! Grimy sounds of Two Fingers and brilliant drums of Only Child Tyrant.

Hey @AdamDam,

Yes! I'm a guitar player "by trade", but an (air) drummer at heart (one theory as to why Ed Sheeran's music has always appealed to me - he often plays the drums on his guitar).

I love a good beat that gets me moving and grooving (even if just sitting in my chair while working), especially if there's a strong off-beat coupled with a bassline that interacts with it. A few tunes that fit the bill are:

💃Ultimatum - Disclosure, Fatoumata Diawara

🥁With The Love In My Heart - Jacob Collier

🎸Headlights - James Vincent McMorrow

Jack Garratt deserves his own separate post - he's a one-man band, multi-instrumentalist and DJ. Ever since I bought his first album, Phase (2016), to listen to in the car, I've loved his diverse electronic sound and the control he has over his craft.

A few tracks to get you started:

The Love You're Given - starts off slow but gradually builds to an explosion of percussion (see the linked YouTube video above to see how it looks/sounds live):

LDD (Vol. 5: Reworks)
- just released a couple weeks ago, an EP of remixes spanning lots of different genres, including garage, dubstep and drum-n-bass.

(I tried picking one song, but I think all four need to be listened to together to be able to fully appreciate the diversity of sounds and rhythms in there).

Don't Kill My Vibe (remix) - originally by Sigrid, he totally takes apart this pop tune (which I already loved) and takes you on a trip.

Hey there,

Couldn't pass this thread as I used to play drums when I was in my before-high school age. I've been searching and listening to tracks with lots of percussion since then so I can brag with a good collection so far. Prepare for a handful of songs!

I want to start with a track by psychedelic trance producer Electric Universe. It's an instrumental one and almost entirely based on goblet drums:

One of my all-time favorite bands Lamb has a lot of percussion throughout their artistry and there are a lot of tracks to be mentioned here. Especially in their album Fear Of Fours

spotify:track:77IWPpYDV8C8s8yNzh1Wse:small

And let's have a bit of a throwback here. Back in 2001 I was totally hooked on a Danish percussion act called Safri Duo and this is my number one track of theirs:

Enjoy the power of the drums 🥁 🎶 🎧

It's "rather simple" (and the whole song is good) but i'm always just waiting for the last 20 seconds of this one

Clown Core is half drums (all good)(i've mentioned and linked to them enough 😅)

This one absolutely blew my mind the first time i heard it and still does - the kicks at 3:28 *weeps*

This one is not metal but has very fast and fun drums - i give my steering wheel bruises when it plays

https://open.spotify.com/track/1mMtql7U5OZWFUE6oVHYBk?si=JzDiD3vnRWCc4AKbRKFexQ

I just found this artist through the in-app Album Picks (the first new one i've seen in days) and found the guitar kind of droning but then the drums picked up and 👍
