What are your 'Desert Island Discs'?

Hey everyone!

So being a fairly new moderator on the community I thought it would be a good to get an idea of what music everyone enjoys.

What better way than to pick your desert island discs?

So it's pretty simple, you are stranded on a desert island with a working CD player- which 5 albums do you have with you? (No greatest hits or compilations!!)

To keep with the 'Desert Island Discs' theme, choose 1 book and 1 luxury item too.

I'll start us off...

5 Albums

Stereophonics – You Gotta Go There To Come Back

Jamie T – Panic Prevention

Coldplay – A Rush Of Blood To The Head

M83 – Hurry Up We're Dreaming

Sigur Ros – Takk...

1 Book

'I Am Legend' by Richard Matheson

1 Luxury Item

Ray-Ban Aviators 😉

Looking forward to seeing everyone elses!

I'm going to skip finding a working CD player and happen to come accross a working record players. So the five records I would bring with me are the following:

1. The Beatles - Abbey Road

2. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

3. Led Zeppelin - IV (or Sticks)

4. daft punk - Discovery

5. Elvis Costello - Live at Hollywood High

The one book I would bring with me...

-Christopher Moore's "Lamb (The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal)"

Luxury Item...

-Fishing Pole

Spoyify hangs cominh back soon with song

The Incredible String Band - Wee Tam & The Big Huge

Peter Gabriel - So

Bliss Denmark - No One Built This Moment

Leonard Cohen - Ten New Songs

Yes - Close To The Edge

I'm so down for this, had these in the back of my head for years

5 Albums

Green Day – Dookie - first ever purchase on cassette of all things - burned out 2 copies from repeat plays

Extreme – Extreme II - Pornograffitti - Nuno Bettencourt is my spirit animal

Eminem – Relapse - massively under-rated Em album, though I'd have "Hell" from Bad Meets Evil in a pinch

Jason Mraz – Jason Mraz Live & Acoustic 2001 - maybe weird to choose a live album but this is a beaut, plus it was my intro to my favourite of Jason's songs: Unfold that doesn't appear on any studio album that I can find

Jeff Beck – Who Else! - guitar pornography

1 Book

'I, Lucifer' - Glen Duncan

1 Luxury Item

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep, / but I have promises to keep / and miles to go before I sleep / and miles to go before I sleep" - Robert Frost, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Love this topic. Here's hoping there's power on the island.

Had to break the 'no greatest hits' rule because I can't possibly choose a fav Stones/Beatles/Bowie album.

My Desert Island Discs:

1) The Rolling Stones – Exile On Main Street

2) The Rolling Stones – The Rolling Stones Singles Box Set (1971-2006)

3) The Beatles (not available on Spotify)

4) David Bowie – Platinum Collection or David Bowie – Best Of Bowie

5) Drive Soundtrack

Old head Alert-

Bob Dylan - Love and Theft

Beatles - Abby Road

Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

Neil Young - Tonight's the Night

Grateful Dead - Ladies and Gentlemen...

If I could have one alternate it would be Cold Play - X&Y

I'm a little late to the party (okay. I'm a newbie) but love this thread so I have to respond. 😉
