With 20,348 scrobbles (196,945 total) and 4,243 different artists listened (36,122 total), 2019 was a very interesting year in music. Even though my first scrobble from him was way back in 2009, this year I had three of his songs in my top played songs of the year. Yikes.

Just like in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 here’s a review of the music I listened to through 2019.

Here are my must "loved" tracks of the year in chronological order:

This year there was no song of the year, but an album of the year with Tool's Fear Inoculum.

Here are some highlights from my Top 57 played songs according to

From the most played album of the year, comes the title song, which clocks over 10 mins of pure bliss.

"The deceiver says, he says
You belong to me
You don't wanna breathe the light of the others
Fear the light, fear the breath
Fear the others for eternity
But I hear them now, inhale the clarity
Hear the venom, the venom in
What you say inoculated
Bless this immunity"

Lana del Rey returned in 2019, and from the opening notes of her first single, you knew she nailed this awesome Sublime cover.

"Me and my girl, we got this relationship
I love her so bad, but she treats me like ****
On lock-down like a penitentiary
She spreads her lovin' all over
And when she gets home, there's none left for me."

This year's Country's crossover hit was the song that broke boundaries. Is it Country? Is it Hip-Hop? Why can't it be both?

"I got the horses in the back
Horse tack is attached
Hat is matte black
Got the boots that's black to match
Ridin' on a horse, ha
You can whip your Porsche
I been in the valley
You ain't been up off that porch, now."

2019 was a good year for Maluma, and the Urban genre in general, as it keep growing and growing. Is it here to stay?

"Quiere salir, fumar, beber
Subir un video pa' que lo vea él
Pa' que se de cuenta de lo que perdió
Pa' que el HP se sienta peor"

The cover of the year goes to Meg Myers' Running Up That Hill. It definitively does Kate Bush justice.

"And if I only could, I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
Say, if I only could."
