Hello and welcome to 2018!
2017 was a year for mellower music and political statements, but what will 2018 look like?
Already we've had albums from Car Seat Headrest, MGMT, tUnE-yArDs, Son Lux, Nils Frahm and Ty Segall to sink our teeth into, but we're only two months in!
Share your favourite songs this year and why you love them - I'll kick us off:

Here's the best songs of 2018 (so far):
A single from newest Franz Ferdinand's album. I love the disco vibe in this song. It looked like they tried to appeal to younger audiences.
Loving the classic rock vibe in it. Sounds like something straight out of the ‘70s. From the warm tones of the guitars and the subtle yet dominate riffs that make it pop, to the robust and steady percussion, the song practically transports me back in time, back to when things were all about the music.
And the last one is a rap music from the young and talented Rich Brian.
I discovered Xavier Darcy on German television. He participated with this title in the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest. Rarely to discover really good artists on television today. I would associate the song in the indie rock genre (so I put it to my indie rock playlist). Bold with great songwriting and a touch of 60s.
For the moment, one of my favorite is:
Until next week 😄
Treat others the way you want to be treated!
Bad Fun by courtship. popped up in my Release Radar a few weeks back and I have been listening to it non-stop. I like how lively and energetic it sounds, anytime I listen it feels like a boost of energy. This is definitely my top song for 2018 so far. 🙂
My lastest acoustic release 'Forces' -
To me Courtney Barnett is one of the greatest rock artists who emerged in the last five years.
Here's her new single:
@Klangspot it is so rare to discover good artists on TV - why might that be?
i loved the track, really energising and folkily upbeat
The few music broadcasts on German television (at the main channels) bring either artists who are already known or only the genre 'Schlager music'.
There are some channels 'in the second row' (3 SAT or ARTE) were you can discover new interesting music. Or 'The Voice of Germany' (I think they provide this casting show in many countries). Anything is is boring (at least for me).
@KatesHere oooooo french i'm imagining some cheesy dance moves in a 90s style film clip
i love the choral backing vocals
Winston Surfshirt is doing such cool stuff atm. In combination with all the other artists under Astral People like Cosmos Midnight it's feel good grooves to the max.
Feel like I can't forget about this song as well.
So heartfelt to the core. Obsessed. Found it on Triple J Unearthed as well..
In the RnB and Hip-Hop category, for sure this song... https://open.spotify.com/album/3FGZXCshFMqmNZ1gEkCTBq
@Bittencourt And she's from the same place as I am! Tasmania ❤️
I love her lazy and witty approach to songwriting - very divisive though.
It's one of my releases though, but maybe you even like it. Hope you enjoy 🙂 https://open.spotify.com/album/6XJLmWP7WutXrxscxbe2Ea?si=gQM2X3-NT0mQp5-9XOzNBQ
