Marketing Tip: How some labels work marketing their artists

Some record companies work with two types of marketing. 1st Institutional, 2nd Direct response marketing.

First, companies focus on institutional, music, image and promotional actions. Then they focus on direct response such as: investors, sales of concerts and other services and products; (Advertising campaigns and virtual stores for example).

When your institutional marketing is active, you can work towards closing deals with your direct response marketing. Independent artists do the opposite, which is why they find it difficult to engage and value their brand.
