Music from where you live

I want to hear music from your suburb, town, city or country. Tell us about thriving scenes that we ought to know about. This could be great!

I could talk about Melbourne music forever but here's a classic from 2014. Basically a modern Melbourne rock anthem.

Well, Brazil always remember samba and bossa, but not here - one samba-soul (very famous here) and a rock/pop song from my town:

Well I'm from Costa Rica, and though electro/rave music wasn't invented here, there's a new Dj from here whose trying to rise in this genres (Costa Rica is not a club country). If you want to listen him and give support here's his link: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6QYDvRwy7KKVeFAdlLT81z

We're from Bristol in the UK (home of banksy) ‘Telepathic Heights’ was inspired by a riot that took place in 2011 in the Stokes Croft area of Bristol, England. The riot followed a raid by police on a squat named Telepathic Heights. A crowd quickly gathered, with approximately 300 people defending the squat and a 1,000 more caught up in the mayhem. Using 90s synthesizer sounds, helicopters, and some Indian chanting, This Human Condition’s song conveys the emotion felt from the chaos and disorder of that riot.

I created a little Belgian pop playlist. For some people, all of this is just **bleep**ty music and I agree with them a little bit because these songs are being beaten on the airwaves. But it's sometimes good to let yourself go without thinking and enjoy the popular music that gives you the edge.

One of my favorite bands, local or otherwise, is VEX. Who are unfortunately rather distracted by other business ventures 😞 Here's their only album:

There are a handful of very good bands in Portland, ME that get ignored due to geography. First is a thrash metal band RUIN that has toured the Northeastern US and Canada and opened for Fear Factory in Worcester MA: https://open.spotify.com/artist/13AONihpR3QMr55Qwvx8u9?si=bg-Y6GpBRjGFkHhJeTstxQ

Second is rock band Fifth Freedom which has toured with Blackstone Cherry: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5q8TGTIty67zNTTHSwq0sI?si=f0IWMTg3Qp270Umu3Y0Xcg

Third are modern rockers Sygnal To Noise: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4lMQyyqnubKsWzTenmifDL?si=r2BdSqzPRFCcnkabRlUx5A

In Germany, Pop Music is divided into 2 major scenes: The "SCHLAGER" scene that features more or less classic Pop with Disco sounds and the "ANYTHING BUT SCHLAGER" scene that tries to avoid sounding like Schlager and therefore often uses overly poetic lyrics, intellectual content and Rock or Rap elements. I think it is sad that there is not much combination of these two scenes because SCHLAGER is too kitsch for my taste, and I am bored with overly brainy lyrics or mostly humourless and overly aggressive Rappers putting on some strange accent. So here is our SCHLAGER queen ANDREA BERG with the dumbest song ever: DIE STERNE SIND STILL. Translation: The stars are silent, they don't talk much, and the silvery moon says no word either, bla bla. It's so bad it's good, no?

China is so new to music, Presenting anything to the people might comee off strange. The culture is really very different but the challenge seems worth it.
