My EP is showing as a single on my artist page

My EP has 4 sings at a total length of 13 minutes 51 seconds. Why is it showing up as a single?

I believe Spotify actually groups singles and EPs into the same category. So even though your EP has multiple songs, it might still appear as a single because of how Spotify categorizes them. This is a platform feature to streamline the browsing experience for listeners. Here is a visual comparison of your EP vs. another wonderful artists, both are EP's and share the same category as singles in the top right corner.

Is this along the lines of what you were asking?

Thanks for your response Prague ๐Ÿ˜€. I have 2 E.Ps 1 is set as an album with 7 songs and the other as single with 4 songs. All over 10mins. I was confused as to why the one with 4 songs is categorized as a single over 10mins. However, thanks for your explanation. ๐Ÿ˜

Ooooo gotcha!

This could be due to various reasons, such as a technical issue or a misconfiguration when distributing. Here are a few potential explanations:

  • Metadata Issue: Sometimes, the metadata associated with a release on streaming platforms like Spotify might be incorrect or incomplete. This could cause an EP to be displayed as a single. If you're the artist or distributor, you might need to review and update the metadata for the release.

  • Platform Update Delays: It's possible that changes made to the release type (from a single to an EP) might take some time to propagate across all platforms. This delay could cause the EP to still appear as a single on Spotify even after the change has been made.

  • Technical Glitch: Technical glitches can sometimes occur on streaming platforms. This might lead to incorrect information being displayed for a release. It could be a temporary issue that will be resolved by Spotify's technical team.

  • Distribution Error: If you're an artist or part of a music label, there might have been an error during the distribution process that resulted in the EP being categorized incorrectly.

I highly encourage you to reach out to the distributor of your tracks, they'll be able to send a metadata update to Spotify with the correct info.

For Artists help page regarding the topic.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast btw, I'd be happy to fetch any other info for you!

I'll be barking up the wrong tree without updates,

My Question or Issue

Hi, I've noticed this in quite a few "singles" that when I open up the page they're actually multiple songs. Attached screenshot of an example. Anecdotally, these have usually been a collection of other recent singles by the artist. Is this a bug?
