Working Class Hero

"Working Class Hero" is a song from John Lennon's first post-Beatles solo album, 1970's John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band.
The song is a commentary/criticism on the difference between social classes. It tells the story of someone growing up in the working class. According to Lennon in an interview with Jann S. Wenner of Rolling Stone in December 1970, it is about working class individuals being processed into the middle classes, into the machine.

Marianne Faithfull covered the song on her 1979 album Broken English.

Green Day contributed a cover of the song to the Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur in 2007.

Ozzy Osbourne recorded a version for his 2005 collection Under Cover.

Personal Jesus

Violator is the seventh studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode, released on 19 March 1990 by Mute Records.

Preceded by the hit singles "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence" (a top ten hit in both the UK and US), Violator propelled the band into international stardom. ( Wikipedia )

Personal Jesus is the fourteenth (twelfth solo) studio album by Nina Hagen, released on July 16, 2010 in Germany and on July 27, 2010 in the U.S.

Johnny Cash recorded "Personal Jesus" for his 2002 album American IV. Producer Rick Rubin asked Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante to re-work an acoustic version of Martin Gore's song, which featured a simple acoustic riff that stripped down the song to a blues style.

Marilyn Manson's 2004 cover version of "Personal Jesus" appears on the band's best-of compilation, Lest We Forget: The Best Of, and was that album's lead single.

I love Ganesis. ALL wth Peter Gabriel, and MUCH with Phil Collins.

The land of confusion was a popular 1987 song famous for the spitting image video Maggie Tacher and Ronald Ragen in the same bed, and fantastic figures of the band members, with the head of Phil Collins as one highlight

Here is the original on spotify

Hello !!

Such a shame ( 1984 )

Talk Talk were an English musical group, active from 1981 to 1991. The group was part of the British new wave movement. They had a string of early hit singles including "Today", "Talk Talk", "It's My Life", "Such a Shame", and "Dum Dum Girl". Always uncomfortable with the requirements and pressure of the pop industry, Talk Talk moved away from synthpop toward more experimental music in the mid-1980s

The cover greatly improves on the original in this case.

All Tomorrow's Parties by The Velvet Underground

All Tomorrow's Parties covered by Japan

While the original has a psych dirge-like quality, the cover gives it a dancy proto-new-wave spin. Both nice.

Triad by The Byrds (written by David Crosby)

Triad covered by Jefferson Airplane

Jefferson Airplane doesn't significantly reinvent the song or anything, but it's still a really nice version.
