Post some of your favorite 80s inspired electronic music albums and songs (or playlists if you happen to know some), and let's all groove while driving Testarossas down Sunset Blvd.!
I was a fan of technopop and new wave during the 80s, and I initially liked the idea of there being a genre inspired by this music. But as I've listened to it, too much of it has lacked the edge of the original music from the 80s. In this regard, it reminds me of 70s music that was inspired by progressive rock, such as Boston, Chicago, or Survivor, which failed to fully embrace the aesthetic of the original genre. Here are some of the main albums of technopop and more synthesizer-heavy new wave I was listening to during the 80's:

My favorite member of the Go-go's:

The contemporary music that has had the most similar appeal to 80's music for me has been Russian pop and Korean pop. Instead of trying to imitate some aspect of 80's music, these are new genres that borrow elements of 80's music. Here are some examples.
This Russian album includes a few songs produced by Trevor Horn, who was in the Buggles:

The Korean pop (k-pop) I listen to is probably more similar to Jane Wiedlan than to other 80's music, though they also borrow from doo-wop and from 90's acts like the Spice Girls. Here is a playlist I have made of k-pop:

Kavinsky ofc ... though I'm liking Mitch Murder
Starfighter is easily my favourite Synthwave album at the moment....
This is an awesome thread. Getting some good retro vibes from it. Here is something I think you will like, it is one of my favorite songs:
I made a space and scifi themed synthwave playlist

Hey,
I'm a fan of this band and they sometimes produce kinda synthwave stuff.
How do you like this one? (a bit dancy)
I made this playlist not too long ago! It's got all sorts of artists ranging from Com Truise, Chromatics Futurecop! etc. Lmk what you think and give it a follow!
