Is it possible to have a public playlist that others can edit and save new music to? I would love to be able to share a playlist with my friends.

There is such a feature it is called Collaborative playlists, check out this article below on how to get started with the Spotify device app you currently have: https://support.spotify.com/using_spotify/share_music/create-playlists-with-your-friends/
