Sleepy ambient music

My wife has been listening to a few different sleepy and ambient playlists as of late.

I wasn't much into it at first but after a couple of weeks now of listening as we slumber away I'm really starting to enjoy it!

I have noticed, though, the "Sleep" playlist for example, it seems like every track on the playlist sounds almost identical, with very subtle changes here and there, ie: the pad sound that sustains throughout the entire track, sometimes with no chord changes, and the top piano layer, very sparse notes, but the actual sound, the tone, doesn't change much from one track to the next. It's just an observation, doesn't bother me in the least.

I've never made ambient music before but curious, what sound libraries are these composers using for those pads and pianos? Stock instruments in Logic (with loads of reverb of course), or Omnisphere, Spitfire, or.....? I had a go at it this morning, I have loads of pads and piano sounds in my arsenal but failed to find that exact sound, lol...

The piano I got pretty close.....but the pads proved to be more difficult, I feel like it's more than one sound, probably layered with some good low end and forward midrange.....

Anyway, I may just keep listening to it and forget about making that kind of music for the time being ha!
