While you can’t turn back time, Gen Zs consider the past brighter than the future. Informed by a daily digital diet of social media, resale apps, and streaming platforms that constantly recirculate culture of yore, Zs can cherry-pick from the aesthetics, artists, albums, and more from almost any era. And they’re mashing it all together to create something totally new.

As Levi, 24, in Berlin put it, “We can be most innovative in context to the past. It's easy to take from there.” In fact, when asked to rank the emotion they feel most when listening to music from the past, Gen Zs around the world were just as likely to say "energized" as they were to say "comfort."1

70% of Zs in the U.S. said they like listening to and watching media from earlier decades, because it reminds them of when things were simpler.2

Take them back to the future...
Use contextual targeting to reach consumers when they’re listening to nostalgic, melancholy, sentimental, and other moody playlists, and invite an artist to discuss how they take musical cues from the past.

…Or help them turn back time.
Bring the sound of your brand to life with curated Branded Playlists, throwing it back to the decades and genres that align with your brand’s personality.

Far too complex for an old man like me but the 'Turn Back Time' phrase reminds me of the queen of pop - Cher x

Seriously, I agree, the earlier material from those such as Nina Simone and Baccarat is so much easier to like.
