What is everyone's favourite genre of music?

Mine is pop because I'm basic, specifically 2010s pop

Great topic, @ambikaaul!

Broadly speaking, my favorite genre of music is rock. And in terms of subgenres, I especially like psychedelic- and stoner rock, although I’m not sure which I appreciate more (especially considering there’s a lot of overlap between these two subgenres).

In terms of decades, I think most of my favorite releases are from the 2010s as well.

Cheers!

I have more than one. Mine are Rock, Metal, and Country. Although, that gets more specific. For Country, I like Classic Country and Country up the the early 2000s, mostly. There area still bands and artists from those eras that are still making music. And some that I like, came onto the scene, a little later. I'm not into the ones that put the snaps into their songs. The only snaps that belong in Country are the ones on the button up western shirts. For Metal, I like the classic artists and bands. It's pretty much the same, as how I like my Country. For Rock , it's a wider range of what I like, compared to what I prefer and listen to most. I like all the way back to the 50s, as well as what sounds good to me, today, even though I don't really prefer any really new bands (that I can think of, at the moment). New to me isn't two weeks old, like it is to trendy people. It's more like 20 years old, especially because a lot of artists and bands put music out way earlier than we sometimes think they did.

You should expand your listening outside of Pop. There's a lot of music that have songs that aren't so superficial. And the meanings and/or stories behind them are interesting, too. I've been listening to Johnathan Cain's book, "Don't Stop Believin': The Man, The Band, and The Songs That Inspired Generations", which is about his childhood and his musical Journey (Pun intended). You get some of the stories about some of Journey's songs in his book.
