Recently, I listened to Metsatöll, a German folk metal band. 

Really pleasant, take a look and you'll see.

Softer than others viking/pagan metal bands because Metsatöll is influenced by heavy metal whereas bands like Wolfchant or Suidakra are influenced by black metal.
