I haven't bought cassettes myself. There are some little bits of gold my parents have bought, such as some Queen, INXS, the Doors and so.
Fortunately we do have something that plays cassettes somewhat fine. An old Panasonic radio! 🙂
We have some old Winnie The Pooh audiobooks and other awesome content on cassettes and listening to them is very heartwarming.
I have a friend that buys cassettes. She also buys vinyl records.
She has pretty specific favourite artists: Moa Pillar, Synecdoche Montauk, Raumskaya, Lovozero, Love Cult and similar. Mostly artists from Russia. If they release something on a physical format, it will be often very limited, about 30 copies or so.
I can't really tell which was the latest cassette she has bought. She just put in a re-order for one vinyl record after she discovered a scratch on her existing one. :')
The last cassette I bought... about 2 years ago... is a limited re-release (by Trash Can Dance, a local DIY record label) of ''Tulisilma synd'' (the y's supposed to be u-umlaut, but this community seems to be racist) by the Estonian black metal / flak n roll band Loits.
It's their rehearsal demo from the year 2000.
I am the proud owner of the 3rd numbered cassette from a total of 50.
Here's the full Demo in case anyone's interested:
Yeah Cassettes are coming back. Especially in the DIY Punk or indie label.
With my band i’v done a split cassette last year, out with What’s for Breakfast? Records (USA) great Job of Dan Stagg!
It has our single and B-Side on one side, ad a pair of Mala Vista’s Punk pearl.
100 copies all in red! Very nice!
