playlists and recommendations

Since the heart and plus have been combined I am really confused as to what effects my recommendations and what doesnt.  I use playlists to keep track of things that have been recommended to me, or to keep songs together that I need to learn for a gig, and this is different than "liking" a song.  I used to love the algorithm on spotify, and I like to know that when I "like" a sing (aka add it to my "Liked Songs") that this will effect the algorithm, but when I add something to a "learn these tunes" playlist or "listen later" playlist that it will not.  
If someone could explain this to me I would be most grateful.

I think adding songs to your playlist affects the reccomendations for that playlist, while saved songs affect what is being shown, but it's integrated mostly based on what you listen to, for how long and how frequently
