Dommengang - Everybody's Boogie ( 2015 )

Dommengang are a Brooklyn-via-Seattle rock trio fronted by Pacific Northwest psych mainstay Sig Wilson (Holy Sons, Castanets, Scout Niblett) and Brooklyn musicians Brian Markham and Adam Bulgasem (currently members of Holy Sonsโ€™ live band).
While the trioโ€™s affection for electric blues and proto-punk bombast is clear, their music abandons traditional song structures and replaces their recognizable tropes with progressive frameworks. The bandโ€™s debut, โ€˜Everybodyโ€™s Boogieโ€™, pivots between gloriously inventive riffs and fuzzed-out experimentation, a combination so potent that the listener hardly notices that they rarely sing.
โ€˜Everybodyโ€™s Boogieโ€™ was recorded live in the studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with minimal overdubs. http://www.piccadillyrecords.com

Du Blonde - Welcome back To Milk ( 2015 )

TIn the summer of 2012, after releasing her debut LP Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose, singer-songwriter Beth Jeans Houghton suffered a nervous breakdown, scrapped an entire album, and devised a new plan of attack. She plotted a drastic reinvention and arranged sessions with producers who would nod along with glazed expressions before layering on Auto-Tune and ornamental synths in the studio. Exasperated, Houghton turned to nefarious Bad Seed Jim Sclavunos, impressed by his yen for psych bands like Lemon Pipers and Ultimate Spinach, and developed her classic-rock chops. Then, just before hitting the studio, Houghton eviscerated the work, wrote two new tracks, and rebuilt, once more, from the ground up.
The result of the triple-distillation process is Welcome Back to Milk, a radical musical and psychological inversion of its predecessor ( http://pitchfork.com )

I know this thread has become the "What's New In 2015" rather than the "Best Of'" but I've been rocking this record (Catfish & the Bottlemen) since January. It's slightly outside my usual listening habits, but I love it. I had the chance to see them at a tiny bar in Richmond, VA but they cancelled on the day of while I was driving to see them. :'-(

Now they're getting a lot of press and major shows so I'll probably hate them before the end of the year. Lol.

Two Sheds -  Assembling ( 2015 )

Two Shedsโ€™ music takes the tender and direct pop mindset of someone like Liz Phair straight to the top floor. Caitlinโ€™s voice may remind listeners of Kristen Hersh or Mazzy Star, sounding like sheโ€™s weeping in the sad songs and smiling in the happy songs. The band takes the California rock-soul of comrades like Mother Hips or 90s indie wizards Pavement, driving to the essence of a song in the shortest path possible. They are pushing themselves to dig down to the still-genuine heart of rock and roll, where true love still resides, away from the false promises of the searchlights. They will dare you to not be enamored. ( http://crossbillrecords.com )
