Advanced search bug

Status: Not Right Now

Advanced search does not seem to be working properly on Windows Desktop App (1.0.74.380.g1fcff12a (Windows Store version))

 

I have tried the following: "label:atomnation AND year:2018" and no results are yielded.

This feature works flawlessly on the web version. See attached screenshot.

 

No matter which combination of quotation marks I use I cannot get the expected results in Desktop app.

The right team are aware of this now, and all the right info has been passed along.

We don't have an exact time frame for a fix, but we'd recommend keeping your app up-to-date in the meantime.

Could you let us know what device, operating system and Spotify version you're using? Also, can you try the steps here for us? They should help with this.

I used to be able to search by label (i.e. label:stiff) and by year (i.e. year:1978). The search by year option is no longer working. Any chance in bringing that search option back?

Spotify: 1.0.75.483.g7ff4a0dc (Windows Store version)

I have tried reinstalling as advised. I perform the same search and get the
same results (none).

Hey @haribo4!

 

Thanks for all the info you've sent us. We've reported this to the right team for you.

 

In the meantime, if you add a space at the end of the year format, the app should show the same results as the web player.

I really miss this feature. I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription just because of this, as I often used this function. Maybe I'll go over to another service instead.

Hi,

I'm new @Spotify and was looking how to search and filter results.

The advanced search seem still not working in the desktop app on Win10 64 bit.

Version: 1.1.71.560.gc.21c3367

Example: When I search for genre:metal, the results are not matching. Also year:YYYY is not working. I didn't check each "advanced search"-feature. For me, it seems, that all "advanced search" is not working in the desktop app (but in the iOS app...).

 

I also was not able to find any filter in the desktop app to shrink down the results - like mention in the article: https://support.spotify.com/us/article/search/

 

It seems that the behaviour in browser/app/desktop app is different. Can you please update the information in the article: https://support.spotify.com/us/article/search/ to help newbies coming in?

 

I was looking for this, because I was missing the genre "metal" in the desktop app. In the mobile app (iOS) it is shown. Why this difference? If the genre is not shown in the desktop app for any reason, it would be nice, to at least search for it (genre:metal)...

 

1. Can anybody advice?

2. @Spotify-team: Can you please check the help-article + maybe fix/extend the desktop app?
