Advanced search by year doesn't work

Hello everybody,

I'm having trouble with advance searching by year in Spotify, both desktop version (upgraded everytime) and android. I'm saying in Spotify huge library, not on my playlists.
Any of you is having this problem too?

I mean, the other criteria works fine, f.e. "genre", "label" etc, but year doesn't work at all...

i've searched on google and google news for some post about it but nothing came out!

Having the same problem, something happened as I normally use the year tag and now only appears albums with the year on the title. Would be very good to fix this

[EDIT] Looking in other posts I saw a temporary solution, in the browser player the year tag works fine.

Hi @JohnDoe85, welcome to the Spotify Community!

At the moment, it's not possible filter or search content by year. You can only do it by Title, Artist, Album, Most recently added or Song duration. You can find more info about this here.

I'm using 1.0.77.338.g758ebd78 on desktop and found something interesting: if you make the following search for example: genre:rap year:1982 will only show the rap genre songs all years, but if you type genre:rap year:1982 and after the ...2 of 1982 you type the space key it will show the rap songs from the year 1982.

I'm not sure 100% you're right because the solution provided by b_oliveira82 seems working fine!

I tried to do as he suggest and i got correct results, at least i think so.

it's a bug, @Julian can you raise it wit the dev team? Under "advanced search options" in the support documentation link the feature appears explained.

year filter works for me if you write it at the beginning of the query, it also helps to wrap the search content between quotes. So you could actually search for something like: year:2018 "Four tet"

This is not what the original poster is talking about.

Spotify has an advanced search syntax whereby you can write things like "year:2017" or "genre:reggae" and get only results from that year or genre. For this user - and currently for me - this search function has stopped working.

It would be great to have listed all the albums avaiable by year of search.

For some reason my Spotify no longer plays on my phone. I've been using this app for years and I'm not understanding why it won't play all of the sudden. I use it every day please help me fix this.

I’ve just noticed the loss of the advanced search function. I previously often searched by label and that suddenly doesn’t work anymore. 😞
