Airpods controls (play, pause, next, previous) don't work

My Question or Issue

While playing podcasts at a speed above 1.0 the double tap to pause with Airpods does not work.  It will pause when playing at 1.0.

Hope you're doing great! 

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

Thanks for checking! Could you try disconnecting your AirPods from Bluetooth and reconnecting it? You can also follow these steps: 

1. On your iPhone, go to Settings.
2. Tap on Bluetooth.
3. Tap the information icon (letter i) next to your AirPods.
4. Tap on 'Forget This Device'
5. Tap 'Forget Device' to confirm your action.

I've looked into this, and it turns out that this is an issue which is being investigated by the relevant team at Spotify. The Community Mods will keep you updated in this thread and let you know as soon as there are any new developments.
