My Question or Issue

After 5 songs (playlist, album or other) Amazon Alexa stop music and I have to start again music using voice, Spotify app or Alexa app. If during this 5 songs I skip the track no problem for other 5 songs and at the end of the 5th stops again. From other devices no problem at all. The Amazon support don't know how to solve the problem. They are analyzing it and suggest also to contact Spotify. Any ideas?

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the recent comments and examples. Rest assured these have all been passed along!

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend you follow the steps below, if this is something you're experiencing:

  • Restart your router
  • Reinstall the app on your mobile device
  • Reinstall the Alexa app
  • Reset the Alexa dot (read here how)
  • Relink your Spotify account to the Alexa app. You can see here how

Many thanks for bearing with us, while this is being looked into!

I’ve been having the same issue with playback stopping, using Gigaclear in the UK on a Linksys mesh network, thanks to those who posted solution of enabling multicast. It is defaulted to off on Linksys routers which is crazy in the ages of people using all these streaming devices. Guide to enable it for anyone else here https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=135006

I have a very complicated home network setup with one subnet on a mesh throughout the house.  I have a Control4 touch panel that runs a Spotify Connect app that I listen to most of the day. The panel is not directly connected to Alexa in any way but our home does have several Alexa devices with a Spotify client to play music. Almost any time someone just talks to Alexa for any reason, my music will stop playing on my touch panel and I have to touch the play button again. It is rather annoying and honestly I'm about to jump ship from Spotify, but my wife is still fairly attached and I don't want to pay another subscription for something else. So I just deal with it for now.
