Description:

"After a while, this can be after a couple of hours or so but it will always happen, the same song will be repeated over and over again. When I press the Next button I also get the same song again.

When I dislike the song, then the radio will continue.

I've noticed this only in the regular radio, not the artist radio."

2013-01-15: I am told this is now fixed. Status changed to "Resolved."

Ok this issue seems to be forgotten... I put the 70's radio today and I have been listening to it for hours. As I have last.fm scrobbling enabled, I can check what songs I've listening to, and here you have it: the radio is a playlist that repeats itself over and over:

PROOF:

This is a report from last.fm where it's shown both Artist - Theme and when it was played. I refitted it so you can clearly see that in the two columns of the left, there are songs that already were played hours ago, it the very same order.

The last time I saw this was about twenty years ago, when local radio stations used stereo vhs video tapes recorded in LP to have 8 hours of music to be played during the night... The same tape played the same day of the week, every week...

As you can see, there are fifty songs repeating over and over for over four hours...

So... IS THERE ANY FIX TO THIS??? IS IT THAT DIFFICULT TO AT LEAST RELOAD A NEW PLAYLIST WHEN THE LAST SONG OF THE BATCH HAS BEEN PLAYED???

I know that asking the player to choose a song randomly could lead to have crazy and weird playlists, but this poor work on the selection of music can't be said that is a radio station at all.

There is enough music to not to have a theme replayed for days or weeks, even being only hits or music from known artists, so why don't you take this seriously and fix it???

@Tokafondo this thread was about a specific track repeating over and over with no songs in between.  You should prob create a new thread with your discovery however, Im sure people will be interested.

I posted that as a separate thread and it was connected with this one. Problem STILL EXISTS!!! Same on mobile (Android) and Desktop. Please do something about it, its impossible to use RADIO function. My "starred" playlist is ~300 songs. When I play radio, 90% of songs are from my playlist, already starred, nothing new! Thumbs up/down doesn't change anything. PLEEEAAASSSEEE FIXXX ITTT!!!!!

Hi,

I have also recently reproduced this issue. I started up spotify and immediately started listening to a radio for a playlist.

The very first track would constantly repeat, without playing any other songs inbetween.

I found what was causing the problem. When I switched to play a song manually I could see that repeat setting was set to repeat 1 song.

I switched repeat off and then started the radio again. Now it works properly and the radio will play new songs.

So it appears the radio is using the repeat setting, even though the button appears to be disabled when in radio mode.

Yea, my radio keeps playing the same song over and over, even if I quit Spotify and reopen it.

Annoying as hell!

Using Windows 7 Enterprise, Spotify Desktop (latest).

It seems to be a caching problem, caused in my case because I use a proxy server.

I cleared the proxy settings, restarted Spotify, added them again, and voilá! it worked again.

I can imagine if your not using a proxy and this happens, remove the Spotify folders in your:

~userfolder/AppData/Local

and

~userfolder/AppData/Roaming

I have this issue too on my iPhone running ios 7.
This is very annoying. I paid for the monthly subscription to listen to all the music I want yet the radio constantly plays old music which I've gotten tired of listening to or it plays the same song over and over or it plays songs that are not my taste even though I have repeatedly used thumbs up/down as a desperate attempt to improve the radio.

I became extremely disappointed and feel cheated after seeing the creation date of this thread.

@spotify: when are you going to fix this please??!!

Well, my Big Giant Circles playlist was invaded by Norwegian Rap, some guy called Lowkey and Necro. This was irritating, but then it came up... **bleep** **bleep**. The worst death metal/ bull**bleep** I've ever heard. Now I like metal, and some hip hop but these artists were clearly unknown for a reason. Just to add another cherry, the song directly after that... Hillsong (some Christian rock)

There are two concerning things here. How does that type of music end up in a BGC radio, and everytime I thumbs down that utter **bleep**, it keeps on coming back, even the exact same songs. Now if it were taylor swift, I can handle it, but some guy screaming his lungs out with garage quality guitars and drums in the background... FML...

Anyway, please fix this spotify... 😞
