[Android] I play a song but no music can be heard

Good morning. I have a premium account. And today when I wanted to listen to a song I clicked on it, waited and no music came out but the song in the bar was still running. So I clicked on another song and the same thing happened. So I sped the song up and music could be heard. But when I tried speeding it up again you couldn't hear it. This is all in my phone, I'm not using bluetooth sprakers or anything. I really don't know what's wrong. It worked fine yesterday and I didn't change the settings between yesterday and today. Also I tried restarting my phone. And deleting the app and reinstalling it again but nothing! Please help I would like to fix this since it is quite troublesome.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your reports so far. We’ve passed your info on to the relevant team, who are currently looking into it.

If you're experiencing this, we'd first recommend going through some basic troubleshooting that can help:

  • Clearing the cache in the app Settings
  • Making sure you have a good internet connection (try a different one if possible)
  • A thorough reinstallation of the app
  • Making sure that you're running the latest firmware on your device
  • Checking your available storage and clearing up space on your device (here are some tips)
  • Checking your SD Card for errors (try moving the data to your device's internal memory and remove the SD card)

In case the issue persists, let us know by adding your +VOTE and the following details in a comment below:

  • Device (make + model) + OS version and your exact Spotify version
  • Time & date the issue last happened and which track was playing (include your timezone)
  • Does it happen with specific songs only or randomly?
  • Is it a single track, playlist or album this is happening on? If so, please share its URI.
  • Do you have any connected devices while playing the affected track/playlist/album?
  • Are you using a SD Card?
  • Does this happen in online or offline mode?
  • Is it happening on WiFi or mobile data or both?
  • Any troubleshooting steps you've tried so far or other relevant info

It'd also be great if you could share a screen recording so that our tech folks can see what's happening on your end and get to the bottom of this.

Thanks again! We'll keep you up to speed here, so make sure to subscribe to this thread.

Hey folks,

We really appreciate you continuing to add your +VOTES in this thread to let us know you're experiencing this!

Rest assured that our teams are still looking into this.

As a heads up, we've updated the Status Update to include some questions that would help out the investigation backstage.

If you're still having troubles and the troubleshooting steps there did not help, please let us know the info requested so we can pass them along.

It'd be also very helpful if you could include a screenrecording of the issue as it happens as this can be very valuable when trying to reproduce things on our end. Just make sure that no private or sensitive info is displayed.

We'll be keeping an eye out for your replies, thank you 🙂

All of the above issues are relevant to me. I have a free account and Premium, this does not apply to my free account, only the Premium and started after the last software update.

Only when skipping tracks, not when it is on auto. I've followed ALL the suggestions, nothing helps. Please assist with this annoying issue.

Song shows that it is playing, but it's mute.

Looking forward to your fiendly assistance!

I just noted that when I scan into a playing song it will also go silent, but when I scan a second time it plays again. Only a manual control issue that needs fixing, nothing to do with auto. Someone needs to press the green button! Not the red one! 😁

This problem started recently. With downloaded songs and when streaming. If I play another song the audio starts, but if I play yet another one, the next song plays with no audio. If I drag the song time indicator either back or forward, the audio plays. It happens randomly. Songs that played alright previously have no audio when I try to play them again or vice versa. Wi-Fi or mobile connection the same.
I got tons of songs downloaded on my mobile, reinstalling is a last resort for me.
I got over 20GB's on my SD card, free storage space and a fast internet connection.
I stream and download on very high quality.
Tried clearing cache, restarting phone, wiped Android's cache partition. Android and firmware are updated af.

Does this happen with any other music streaming app or just Spotify?
