[Android] New music won't stay downloaded (2)

Thread: 115032

Status: Reopened

Description:

Tracks synced for offline playback get unsynced.

Additional information:

First of all, I am very sorry that this bug has reared its ugly head again. Clearly we didn't intend for this to happen.

Tracks might get re-synched as soon as you go online again.

When this bug previously occurred it seemed to only affect newer playlist additions

Please provide this information so we can investigate again:

  • Spotify version
  • Mobile Phone model (i.e. Samsung Galaxy S4)
  • Android Operating system version (i.e. 4.2.2)
  • One or two example tracks that have unsynched (An actual link to the track(s) would be most helpful. I.e. http://open.spotify.com/track/034h8tVGEkurQkR96clibA)
  • Approximately when did you add the affected track(s)?

Spotify 0.5.12.52

Google Nexus 4

Android 4.2.2

Playlist: Billboard Rock Songs

Synced at work, switched to offline mode, played a few songs, it worked, 10 minutes later, without closing the app, songs won't play anymore, stay at 0:00. I forced stop the app, reopened it, playlist and all the songs were not synced anymore.

Please fix this. I can't believe you can't reproduce this. I am willing to provide logs, directory structures, anything that is necessary.

It this is not fixed soon, I intend to cancel my subscribtion.

Update: A colleage of yours from @SpotifyCares asked me if I use any cache clearing apps. I removed any app that may have even the slightest connection with this. There problem is still there.

I also have this problem.

Spotify 0.5.13.63

Motorola Defy MB525

Android 2.2.2

e.g. http://open.spotify.com/track/0fvpGbdJ8KjmfMviaGJu5f

I also don't use any software that deletes cache.

This problem occurs all the time. I also tried a couple of times a clean installation - it didn't help.

  • Spotify version - 0.5.13.63
  • Mobile Phone model - Samsung Nexus (i515)
  • Android Operating system version - 4.2.2
  • One or two example tracks that have unsynched  - Starred playlist is the only thing i ever try to sync. However I add new songs to it all the time.
  • Approximately when did you add the affected track(s)? Entire playlist unsyncs repeatedly. Playlist is under 2400 songs.

Have repeatedly done the clean installation. Also unable to connect with Computer Spotify list.

Spotify 0.5.13.63

Google Nexus 4

Android 4.2.2

Playlist: Has happened to all my playlists at one point or another. An example from today is http://open.spotify.com/track/1DUhAeBCT4r66Gu4P3nirG

I spent quite a long time in conversation with your support via email and did various actions like re-install several times. They also reset my playlists on your servers a few times. Eventually they stopped answering my emails.

The previous update did seem to settle things down for me. The current one (0.5.13.63) is worse.

My typical usage pattern is to:

1) Create a playlists from an album
2) Download the playlist - I use extreme quality for this.
3) Switch phone to offline mode. I do this to prevent any unwanted background data usage. (see http://community.spotify.com/t5/Bugs/Android-App-using-a-lot-of-mobile-data/td-p/241958)
4) At some point individual track(s) will start to be shown as undownloaded in playlists. Switching back into online mode allows the tracks to download again.

I suspect that many people don't even realise they have this issue because they don't go offline. Instead they just get a lot of data usage as tracks randomly redownload without their knowledge.

I also suspect this is related to your algorithms that attempt to understand where to store data and how much space is free. I think 0.5.13.63 reintroduced Spotify being able to access external storage which might explain why the problem seems to have got worse.

Spotify 0.5.13.63

Samsung Galaxy S1

Android 2.3.3

Happens to all of my playlists. Playlists are typically albums which I add and then download. They stay for a couple of days - week & then randomly disappear. I don't know how to copy the link but an example album playlist is Bahamas - Barchords.

Thanks!

Hi!

I have the same problem since I use my new device Nexus 4.

  • Spotify version --> 0.5.13.63
  • Mobile Phone model  --> Nexus 4
  • Android Operating system version --> 4.2.2
  • Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - The Heist and USA temazos I used to have also another playlists, but none of them stays at the phone.
  • Approximately when did you add the affected track(s)? I buy this nexus 4 2 weeks ago, and I try to download different tracklists, and none of them appears offline.

Thanks in advance.

Please provide this information so we can investigate again:

  • Spotify version: 0.5.13.63
  • Mobile Phone model (i.e. Samsung Galaxy S4): Samsung Galaxy S3
  • Android Operating system version (i.e. 4.2.2): 4.2.2
  • One or two example tracks that have unsynched (An actual link to the track(s) would be most helpful. I.e.http://open.spotify.com/track/034h8tVGEkurQkR96clibA)
  • Justin Timberlake – My Love - Main Version - Clean
  • Drake – Started From the Bottom
  • Approximately when did you add the affected track(s)? : These were added on March 12, 2013...the problem occurred last night...I believe Spotify may have updated during the night and when I went to play a song all of my playlists that were synced were no longer available...the data is still on my phone but it seems like Spotify is not linked to them anymore and is forcing me to redownload...this has happened frequently over the past 5 or 6 months since I obtained Spotify premium when I have had to redownload hundreds of songs, and ALL of my synced playlists have lost their connection to the data

  • Android Operating system version --> 2.3.6
  • Quique Gonzalez – Ajuste de cuentas I used to have also another playlists, but none of them stays at the phone.
  • Approximately when did you add the affected track(s)? 3 weeks ago more or less.

I was able to somehow resolve this issue...when I was prompted to download the content, I clicked it on each playlist...it looked like it was downloading, but all it did was resync to the files that were already downloaded...I hope this is helpful for some of you...this was not the case for every single issues like this that I had for the past few months 🙂

Please provide this information so we can investigate again:

  • Spotify version - Latest version, just downloaded from the play store today after uninstalling
  • Mobile Phone model (i.e. Samsung Galaxy S4) - Google Nexus 4
  • Android Operating system version (i.e. 4.2.2) - 4.2.2
  • One or two example tracks that have unsynched (An actual link to the track(s) would be most helpful. I.e.http://open.spotify.com/track/034h8tVGEkurQkR96clibA) - ALL of my downloaded music keeps disappearing, offline mode or not.
  • Approximately when did you add the affected track(s)? This is affecting all tracks, recently added or not.

I've gone through this about 5 times now and I've had it. I keep downloading, going offline, the app keeps opening and asking me to log in, keeps losing my downloaded content. This is rediculous.
